Following on from the recent success of their debut album ‘Watch Over You’, award-winning Staffordshire based modern country duo, Adele & Andy, are set to release their brand new single “Took His Love Away” on October 30th.
This upcoming release has been inspired by the loss of their friend’s wife & aims to capture the thoughts and feelings felt and experienced during this time.
Adele & Andy have kindly taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution about their forthcoming heartfelt single. Find out what they had to say below.
Hey Adele & Andy, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Can you start by telling the readers a little bit about yourselves?
Andy & Adele: We are award winning modern country singer/songwriters based in Staffordshire. Our songs are based on our own life experiences and our storytelling has received universal appeal. We have been told that Adele’s silky and rich tone combined with my subtle guitar playing makes us easy to listen too. Following the release of the ‘Watch Over You’ album we decided to move to a more country genre and our two latest singles each managed to reach the iTunes Country Chart with ‘Say it Out Loud’ peaking at no 27. Our music has been streamed in 53 different countries and we have a huge following across the major platforms.
When did you both first discover your passion for music & how did the idea to become a duo first come together?
Andy: My passion stems from growing up listening to the likes of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Fleetwood Mac and Adele from the point she realized she had a decent voice. When we first met I had no idea that Adele could sing and she pretty much kept it from me. I first heard her sing when she sent me a copy of something she had done on Smule and I was blown away. Adele started by doing a few open mics but she suffers a lot with anxiety so I started to play guitar simply to give her the confidence.
How would you describe your musical style to someone unfamiliar with your music?
Andy: I would describe our music as easy listening with real life story telling that most people should relate too. Of late it has a very traditional country vibe
You are about to release your brand new single “Took his love away” on the 30th October. How did the idea to create this single first come together?
Andy & Adele: The song was inspired after listening to an elderly chap talk about his wife who sadly passed away and captures some of his thoughts and emotions
What does the song mean to you both personally?
Andy & Adele: The song means a great deal to us because there are so many people out there who are struggling to come to terms with life after losing a loved one.
How would you describe the creative process behind this song, compared to your previous releases?
Andy: The process has followed a similar path to our other songs but when I first played it to Adele she became very emotional. The words were put down by me first with very rough chords. As usual Adele would then put her own style around the song and change chords to suit. We did however go back and forth in the recording studio trying to create the right sound to capture the emotions of the subject.
If listeners could take away anything from this song, what would you like it to be?
Andy: I would hope that listeners could empathise more deeply with people who have suffered a loss.
If you could possess any superpower, what would you choose & why?
Andy: Superpowers wow – to heal I guess.
What is one item you could no bare to go a day without?
Andy: Obviously neither of us go a day without music …maybe each other?
What advice would offer anyone who is looking at pursuing a career within music?
Andy: The advice I would give would be to do it for themselves. It’s really difficult with so many brilliant people out there to get interest. You have to be extremely resilient and believe in what you do.
Finally, is there anything you would like to say to the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?
Andy: Please listen to our music …listen to the lyrics and try and find you own meaning to the songs.
