Interview: Amanda Marie Wilkinson Discusses The Release Of Her Single ‘Spiritual Level’!

Hailing from Texas, Amanda Marie Wilkinson is a singer, songwriter, actor, music publisher, actor, philanthropist, businesswoman, healthcare, writer, & community activist in her own right.

Recently, Amanda created waves amongst the pop hemisphere with her latest single “Spiritual Level” & has kindly taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution about the release of the song & the story behind its creation.

When did you first discover your passion for music?

Amanda: When I was a toddler dancing on a table and giving everyone a show when music came on and well not so much tables anymore, but dancing still very much continues to the tunes of music, whether I am creating them, or relating to it from other artists. It definitely is something you are born with and never grow out of.

Have you always known that music was a career that you wanted to pursue?

Amanda: I was a kid who was always writing. I loved music and I remember writing my first song when I was around 5. Writing was muy lifeline and it continues. It is my joy and it is also my therapy. Getting to put that into music when and where it feels most natural, is when I have been able to release that. I have much that I haven’t yet. I am just getting started. I also loved film and growing up knowing I wanted to pursue the arts in general. Growing up in theatre, loving dance, music was there but it came in waves. I didn’t pursue it as heavy as I did with film and television. However, studying, working, and growing from this world too helps a lot as an artist pursuing music.

You recently released the single ‘Spiritual Level’, how did the idea to create this single come together?

Amanda: Honestly, I got to writing the original draft of this song dancing in my living room, and thinking about someone, with that thought just smiling, and feeling joyous and connected. A really strong connection that I haven’t felt in a really long time. Being so surreal because it had 100 percent nothing to do with physical presence, but where I felt internally. This was around a month before Covid drastically hit. Then my own feelings of not being able to be physically present with others, how it reminded me too what true love and connection truly is. Internalizing how others made me feel, how I connect with others as well. Evaluating a lot throughout this time. It was an awakening, and refreshing honestly. Downsizing in areas too which allows you to stay on this level. It is important!

What does the song personally mean to you?

Amanda: It is a song about true connection and love. One that is strengthening and unbroken.

What message would you like listeners to take away after listening to this single?

Amanda: Reflecting on those in your life that bring you to the highest level of joy. How you also bring that to others. Having a true level of love and connectivity that takes you beyond the physical level, which is never sustainable. It goes deeper than that. In the times you are alone, a smile comes from the simple thought of others and the feeling that they give to you from their love, support, and connectivity. Those you just want to dance with or make you want to even if you are alone in your living room. That is always keeping you on a spiritual level. It is also how you give that to yourself as well. How you connect with yourself, love, and support yourself too. Keep on that level with yourself and others always.

Are there any further musical releases you have planned, which you can tell us about at the moment?

Amanda: I do have another single that I may be releasing before end of year I will see. It takes you differently than Spiritual level but reflects well. It’s a song about looking back, the what if’s in your past life, and having the ability to look at where you are now and just how thankful you are for where the ups and downs have brought you. Reflecting in my own life, even through the hardest of times, I wouldn’t change any of it, for the sake of the person I am today. It’s a movement. However I am working on an EP currently. Recent collaborations in the making, very exciting.

If you could perform a duet with any artist in the world, who would you choose & why?

Amanda: That is a difficult one. Probably someone like Bono, Elton John, so many greats. Though I would probably be way too intimidated like a shaking cat in a tree haha. I would want to be able to take in the whole journey of simply learning from those that have had decades of progression in their talents, writing, musical talents, ect. That mentorship alone is priceless. So much to learn and grow from always! The music world is rapidly changing.

What was the first album you can recall purchasing & do you still listen to it now?

Amanda: The first album I ever owned was by the late Selena. I still love her music, and it introduced me to so many other latin artists following. I was in grade school. However I grew up with those of my father, Motown, Classic Rock-The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Journey, The Who, you name it. As a kid I loved so many different international artists and genres. Some of my favorite female artists that I discovered too that I loved then and now were Sara Mclaughlin, Natalie Merchant, Alanis Morrisette, Mariah Carey, Gwen Stefani, many others.

What advice would you offer someone looking to pursue a career within the music industry?

Amanda: You truly have to love what you do in order to enjoy it. The tough times will burn you out otherwise. Your passion will always triumph the many ups and downs, and I am not one to sugar coat anything. There are many downs, but you can’t let that defeat you and your true purpose. Staying true to who you are, your artistry, and remaining firm on your authenticity. That makes all the difference to how you relate to the industry, to your listeners, and most importantly being happy with yourself at the end of the dayand for those to follow. Nothing is easy, and no one appeases to all. That doesn’t matter, but what does,is how you live with what you do and who you are. Never change that.

Finally, is there a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?

Amanda: Unity with Community. Keep sharing, learning, growing, and staying on that spiritual level with yourself and others, Always!
