Upcoming Swiss-born, now London-based singer-songwriter Norea Relja share the brand new single “Everyone Will Know My Name”!
This latest release looks at what Norea wishes for within her life, but also feeling a sense of guilt for wanting it. The song has a strong sense of inspiration and encourages you to find the spark to believe in yourself.
Norea has kindly taken the time to chat with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution regarding the new single and you can find the full interview below.
Hey Norea, thank you for this interview. Could you introduce yourself to readers who might be unfamiliar with your music?
Norea: Hi Jess, thank you for having me! And hello to everyone, I’m Norea, 25 years old singer songwriter from Switzerland and I’m based in London.
How would you currently describe your musical style?
Norea: I’d say my music is for fans of Dora Jar, Lizzy McAlpine, Samia. Very much indie pop/ alt music.
You just released the new single “Everyone Will Know My Name”. How did the idea for this song come together?
Norea: The idea started at some point last year, when I made a lot of tiktok videos and I always introduced myself by “Hi, I’m Norea Relja and everyone will know my name” and that just kind of became a running joke with my friends. Eventually I thought why not write a song about that and just manifest it in a way.
What were some of your main inspirations during the creative process of this song?
Norea: I was listening to a lot of Ariana Grande during the time I wrote this song. It’s not that my music sounds like Ariana’s but she has a lot of “speaking things into existence” type of lyrics. So I thought I’d make a list of things I want and crave, even if they seem so incredibly vain.
Did you always plan to release “Everyone Will Know My Name” as a single?
Norea: Yes. Pretty much from the moment I wrote it, I just knew it had to be a single. It’s too fun of a title and message to not give this an opportunity to see where it could go. Like how fun is it if people find my music through a song called “Everyone will know my name”
What does this song mean to you?
Norea: It’s the lightheartedness for me that means so much. I have written a lot of songs that are really personal and delving into things that I’ve experienced but this song just always has felt quite lighthearted and jokey in a way.
What message would you like listeners to take from this song?
Norea: You can want things that “shouldn’t matter” and are “vain” but that doesn’t make you a bad person in any way shape or form and I also think it always starts with you. You have to believe in yourself first before someone else will believe in you.
