Interview: DASHA Discusses The Release Of Her Latest Single “Love Me Till August”!

Emerging Nashville-based, California-born singer-songwriter Dasha is a creatively unique musician who promptly continues to bestow her freshly unique musical style upon the global music scene.

Following on from the recent success of her EP ‘$hiny Things’, Dasha has now released the brand new single “Love Me To August” & has kindly taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution about this latest musical release. Find out what she had to say below.

Hey Dasha, thank you for this interview. Can you start by telling the readers a little bit about yourself?

Dasha: Hi! Thanks so much for having me. I was born and raised in San Luis Obispo. My whole family has always been in the creative/music field with their interests, including my older brother, Bardo, who produces a lot of my songs and was even involved in “Love Me Till August” in its final stages. I started dancing and doing musical theatre at a very young age, which is honestly what first sparked my love for performing and singing. I picked up guitar and piano around age eight and songwriting came almost automatically after. I was a very dramatic child, always writing angsty poems like I’d been divorced four times. My artistry started to develop in my first year of middle school when I got to professionally record the first song I wrote as a birthday present. It took so many years and so many horrible songs to finally find my sound as an artist. That journey was very humbling and I’m so thankful for it. On the writing side, I write/ co-write all of my songs and also write for other artists. I also vocal produce all my new released music.

You just released the brand new single “Love Me Till August” on the 14th of May. How did the idea for this song come together?

Dasha: “Love Me Till August” started as a concept my best friend and I were talking about while driving from Nashville to California last Summer. It was inspired by a personal experience of “right person, wrong time” when outside factors were the reason things ended. Writing “Love Me Till August” was honestly a coping mechanism.

Did you always plan to release “Love Me Till August” as a single?

Dasha: Yes, absolutely. The second I finished it, I couldn’t stop listening to the demo. My whole team was obsessed instantly, too. I think it’s the simplicity, honesty and the vulnerability of the lyrics that hit your heart strings so hard. I posted a clip of it on Tik Tok and it was my first video to go viral!

How would you compare the creative process behind this single to previous releases?

Dasha: I wrote this song alone after being sent a guitar loop from the producer. I was sitting at the piano and wrote it in about 45 minutes. It was effortless. Not a single line was forced, it just kind of came out of me. It felt like the song needed to be written just as much as I wanted to write it. I think all the greatest songs are written like that because when you start overthinking it, it becomes less and less genuine.

What does this song personally mean to you?

Dasha: It was written about something I was going through so it’s very personal. It’s a nostalgic anthem just to make sure you don’t forget that “right person at the wrong time”. It’s one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written. I’m so proud of it.

If listeners could take something away from this song, what would you like it to be?

Dasha: My goal is to write music that people can relate to — so they know they’re not alone in what they’re feeling. Specifically, I want people to remember that one of the cruelest things the universe can do is give you the right person but at the wrong time. The worst part is that there’s nothing you can do about it.

Do you have any further musical releases planned that you can currently tell us about?

Dasha: Yes!! Go stalk my Tik Tok (@itsdashabitch) and you’ll get the sneak peak of the other singles I’m dropping this Summer.

Finally, do you have a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?

Dasha: If you’re scared, then you’re probably doing something right. 🙂
