Hey Olivia, thank you so much for this interview. Can you start by telling the readers a little bit about yourself?

Olivia: Thank YOU Jess! Hey everyone! My name is Olivia Rose and I am a 21 year-old country artist and songwriter! I was born and raised in a small town in western Canada.

When did you first discover your passion for music?

Olivia: I’ve been singing since I was 3, writing music since I was 8, and I got my first guitar when I was 9! Growing up in a small town really helped develop my love for country music.

When is the first time you can recall performing in front of a live audience?

Olivia: I did tons of performing since I was very young, whether it was on stage for talent shows or just on the coffee table for a captive audience (my parents mostly hahaha). But the first time I really remember deciding to do this as a career is when I won a competition and had the opportunity to perform in front of 1,500 people with a live band when I was 9!

Have you always known that you wanted to pursue a career within the music industry?

Olivia: I was really lucky to have super supportive parents from a really young age. At 10 years old, I started attending award shows and banquets for Canadian Country music. They saw that this was very important to me and helped to provide the tools and experience I would require to move forward in such a crazy industry!

How would you describe your musical style to someone unfamiliar with your music?

Olivia: I’d have to say my style is definitely mainstream country with elements of classic country mixed in! Something I really love about writing in the country music genre is that storytelling is always at the base of my songs. Before I write a song I figure out who it’s about, what they’re feeling or going through and what they want to say about it! I really like to write songs that have truth to them and that people can connect to in their own way.

You recently released the single “Gold”, which sounds amazing by the way. How did the idea for this song come together?

Olivia: Thank you! “Gold” was written with my good friend David Borys! I’ve written with Dave many times before we wrote “Gold” so we always end up talking about life and what we’ve been up to before diving into songwriting. I was writing a lot of sad, breakup songs at that time but I had this line stuck in my head for a while, “you are gold baby, solid gold” and Dave ended up loving it! So we wrote a no-strings-attached, dive-in head-first kind of love song.

What would you consider to be the main inspiration behind this song?

Olivia: Like I said before, this song is a no-strings-attached love song. It’s happy! The person you think is “solid gold” doesn’t even have to be a significant other, it can be your best friend or your mom. It’s just about someone in your life that you feel truly blessed to have there.

Did you always plan on releasing “Gold” as a single?

Olivia: Yes, definitely! I went into the recording studio with the mindset of releasing “Gold” as a single!

What does the song personally mean to you?

Olivia: It’s really a testament to my happiness, I was going through a rough patch when I wrote “Gold” and only two weeks later I met my wonderful boyfriend who I truly think is solid gold!

If listeners could take anything away from this song, what would you like it to be?

Olivia: It would be to not take the people in your life that you love for granted. Treat them like the most precious thing in the world and you’ll both have a friendship or relationship for the ages.

What are some of the things you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Olivia: Being from a small town, I definitely love the outdoors. I’m into camping, fishing, quadding and playing some fun drinking games we have in Canada (two of which are called Beersbee and Beer Darts).

If you could perform a duet with anyone in the world, who would you choose & why?

Olivia: That is a loaded question! If I could choose absolutely anyone in the world it would HAVE to be Dolly Parton. She is just so undeniably iconic and I believe sharing a stage with someone of her calibre would be unlike anything else I would ever experience in my career.

What is one song you always keep on your playlist & why?

Olivia: “Go Your Own Way” by Fleetwood Mac! It’s such a feel-good song (even though it’s about a breakup) and it makes me want to roll the windows down in my car and sing it at the top of my lungs every time it comes on.

What three words best describe you?

Olivia: This is a hard question but I’ll say bubbly, comforting and loyal!

If you could possess one superpower, which would you choose & why?

Olivia: It would either be time travel because I’ve always been so interested to know what it would be like to live in different decades or teleportation because that sounds so much better than spending time trying to get to your destination.

Finally, is there a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?

Olivia: First off, thank you so much for having me do this interview Jess, these questions were wonderful. I hope everyone is doing the best that they can, these are crazy times and we can’t be too hard on ourselves! Keep on keepin’ on! ♥️
