Review: Ben Haenow Reimagines ‘Sexual Healing’ On New ‘Café Covers’ Album!

X Factor winner Ben Haenow recently released an acoustic rendition of Marvin Gaye’s iconic 1982 hit ‘Sexual Healing’ as part of Double J Music’s second ‘Café Covers’ album.

This newest vocal vision follows on from Ben’s much-loved rendition of ‘Heart of Glass’ by Blondie that featured on Double J Music’s first ‘Cafe Covers’ album last year & swiftly caught the attention of music lovers everywhere.

Speaking about his latest rendition, Ben said “I’ve always loved Marvin Gaye and especially this track, so I really enjoyed working on a stripped back acoustic version for the new ‘Café Covers’ album. The mood on these albums is always a chilled vibe and though the lyrics to ‘Sexual Healing’ are pretty raunchy, I think they lent themselves well to a more vulnerable stripped back version.”

“It’s always an honour to feature on cool compilation albums alongside so many other great artists. Thanks again to the guys at Double J Music for having me on the cut.”

This latest release features a more stripped back composition compared to the original, which brings the raw & delicate undertone behind Ben’s vocals to centre stage & builds an instantly soulful connection with listeners.

Ben has an exceptionally natural creative talent that captures the pure essence behind the lyrical characteristics of any original or cover he releases.

The way he has been able to continue showing the raw purity behind his vocals throughout his musical releases is a true statement of his undeniable musical gift.
