Interview: Ariel Bellvalaire Discusses The Release Of Her Brand New Single “Elastic”!

Ariel Bellvalaire is an upcoming pop-rock, singer, songwriter, & lead guitarist who knows how to wow audiences with her truly vibrant musical style.

Now, this gifted musician is about to release her phenomenal debut single “Elastic” on November 13th & has kindly taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution about her upcoming track.

Hey Ariel, thank you so much for agreeing to this interview. Can you start by telling the readers a little bit about yourself?

Ariel: Hello! I’m Ariel Bellvalaire, I’m a singer, songwriter, lead electric guitarist, aerialist and most importantly…a guinea pig mom! I’m a lover of all things rock n’ roll and love to bring classic rock guitar into modern day pop songs as well as incorporate my love for gymnastics and aerial into my live shows. I’m a firm believer in combining all the things you love and trying to create the best show possible! If I’m not on stage, you can find me teaching children’s music classes and helping them find an appreciation for all things guitar and rock!

When did you first discover your passion for music?

Ariel: I discovered I had a passion for singing around age 9 while I was in gymnastics summer camp. Avril Lavigne had come on the radio and I became instantly obsessed. Not with her songs but her. I wanted to be Avril and I would sing her songs at the top of my lungs constantly and soon after realized I loved singing and wanted to be a rockstar. (Some things never change!) I joined a band of young music students at a local music studio in Connecticut and played my first gig at a bar at 10 years old! I was ADDICTED to being on stage after that. It was all I could think about and I loved being in a band.

My band needed a new guitar player and so I decided to pick up the electric guitar and began singing and playing rhythm in the band. One day I had the random desire to hear metal music so I logged into MySpace and pulled up the only metal artist I had ever heard of: Ozzy Osbourne. “Crazy Train”came on and that guitar intro blew me away. Fast forward to the solo and I knew I couldn’t play rhythm guitar anymore. I had to play THAT solo. And so I did. The first time I performed the solo live with my band, the audience was dead silent…and then they screamed “That little girl just played that solo!” It was at that moment that I realized that there weren’t many female lead guitar players! My passion was already music at that point and I wanted to make it my mission to show girls that they can do anything.

How would you describe your musical style to someone unfamiliar with your music?

Ariel: Being an Avril Lavigne and Green Day fan growing up definitely rubbed off on my original music. I have always had and will continue to have a love for pop rock music with catchy melodies and guitar driven instrumentation behind them. The one thing you can always count on from me is a guitar solo or some sort of guitar riff in my songs…because ya know…every pop song needs a shred solo right?! I love to describe my sound as Avril Lavigne with a hint of Van Halen!

You are about to release the brand new single “Elastic” on November 13th. How did the idea to create this song first come together?

Ariel: At the time of writing “Elastic,” I was dealing with an on and off again relationship that was fun when we were together but when we weren’t together I never knew where we stood. I was about to fly to Nashville to record and had a writing session scheduled with Brett Boyett and Scott Lindsay. I wrote down a list of possible song titles to give inspiration when we got into the writing room. All the titles I had were about the relationship I was in and one of the titles I had that resonated with me the most was “Elastic Love.” We all started collaborating and soon it became “Elastic” and a pop rock song with plenty of room for guitar riffs and solos.

How would you compare the creative process behind this song, to your previous releases?

Ariel: In the past when I would write songs, I always wrote them about situations or people that upset me and generally my songs were on the darker side. For this song, although the relationship wasn’t perfect, it was still fun and playful at times and we tried to bring that into the song. We kept it upbeat and fun which was very different from past songs and actually resonated with me more as an artist since I’m a sassy little rocker who loves smiling on stage!

How have your family & friends reacted to your upcoming single?

Ariel: We are all so excited about it! My friends and family have been talking about this song and singing it for a little while now and seeing it all come together to be released has been an incredible experience for all of us. We are ready to sing it at the top of our lungs on November 13th!

What does the song personally mean to you?

Ariel: This song means so many things to me. Of course I’ll always think of an on and off again relationship but even though I’m not in an elastic relationship anymore, the song and lyrics still resonate with me. I think of all the times the love for my music career has felt bittersweet. There have been so many times where I’ve been knocked down and every single time, my love and passion for performing snaps me right back like an elastic band!

If listeners could take away one message from this song, what would you like it to be?

Ariel: Sometimes in life we are all pulled back and forth whether it be in a relationship, a career or something you’re passionate about. It may take a few tries to figure out if the situation is right for you and if it is, you’ll keep coming back to it.

Finally, is there a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?

Ariel: There is no right way to be Fierce and Fabulous! Whatever your passion is go for it and don’t let anyone tell you how you should do it!
