The album guides you on a journey through the eyes of Beck Black whilst living in the historic Whitely Heights of Hollywood. During that time, inspiration sprung from all around Hollywood Blvd.
Beck Black has kindly taken the time to talk with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution regarding the release of the “Hollywood Blvd” album & you can find the full interview below.
Hey Beck Black, thank you so much for this interview. Can you start by introducing yourself to readers who might be unfamiliar with your music?
Beck Black: Hello I’m Beck Black, double alliteration, a character, a Rock band and the brand! Let’s go global together!
When did you first discover your passion for music?
Beck Black: I first discovered my passion for music when my mom enrolled me into piano lessons at the tender age of nine after my parents divorced.
What does music personally mean to you?
Beck Black: Music is the universal language that speaks to us all and brings us together within the melodies and harmonies.
Did you always dream of following a career within the music industry?
Beck Black: I really had my hopes on being an actress. I even went to Film school to be a screenwriter and a director in order to be a smart actor…somehow music found me and I intrinsically accepted the mission.
How would you currently describe your music style?
Beck Black: Rock n’ Roll.
Your album “Hollywood Blvd” has caught the attention of listeners & critics alike. How did the idea for this album come together?
Beck Black: As a writer, you compose what you know. A few years ago, I lived in the Hollywood hills and wrote about Hollywood as a character. The album begins with helicopters and the road map to Hollywood with the song “Hollywood Blvd” and ends with the lyrics “the end” from the song Life’s a Circus”.
What are some of the main influences that formed the creative process of this album?
Beck Black: Life in tinsel town (Hollywood).
What are some of your favourite songs to feature on the album?
Beck Black: “Puppet Show” “Dirty Lil Angel” “Talk to Me” and “She’s A Ok”.
What does this album personally mean to you?
Beck Black: It means a reflection on who we are on the outside looking in. Hollywood Blvd mirrors the tenacity it takes to survive and thrive within the industry and the world.
If listeners could take something from this album, what would you like it to be?
Beck Black: A joyful appreciation for a genre that seems to be slipping away into the ethers of pop dust.
How do you feel that your musical journey has evolved since the release of “Hollywood Blvd”?
Beck Black: I have so much more music to release of all genres.
What are some of the things that we can anticipate seeing from you during 2023?
Beck Black: The “Electric Cowgirl” Classic yet Futuristic Country album and the Dream Pop genre single “Airplane Mode”.
If you could offer advice to someone who was looking to pursue a career within the music industry, what would it be?
Beck Black: Be YOU! Be who YOU want to be. To be or not to be is not the question…just BE!
Finally, is there a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?
Beck Black: Please take care of yourselves and others. Do something that helps the world and brings peace. It takes a community to accomplish goals/dreams and you have to take care of your mind and body first and foremost to afford yourself that. Be kind!
