Interview: Shaun Samonini Discusses The Release Of The Latest Single “Nowhere Fast”!

Hot on the heels of his debut release, Stuck On You, soulful-country songwriter Shaun Samonini is shifting focus with the new single Nowhere Fast. While Stuck On You captured the happiness of his relationship with his wife, the latest track looks back to memories long before his marriage and embodies the feeling of needing to let loose in the thick of a break-up.

Shaun has kindly taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution regarding his latest release, along with getting to know more from the artist behind the music. You can check out the full interview below.

Hey Shaun, thank you so much for the interview. Can you start by telling the readers a little bit
about yourself?

Shaun: I’m a country singer/songwriter, husband to my beautiful wife Sush, dad to Avery, and soon to
be a dad again! I’ve been performing since I was four years old. I love running to country music.
I swim, I cook a mean roast dinner, and I love watching movies—my favourite thing is to listen to
country music with the windows down on a long road.

When did you first discover your passion for music?

Shaun: I’ve never known a life without music. It’s always been the thing I love most. It makes me cry
and laugh, and it inspires me and makes me want to dance. Is there a life without music?

Have you always known that you wanted to pursue a career within the music industry?

Shaun: Yes and no. I didn’t have a great experience the first time around. But then, I wasn’t
experienced. I’ve always worked in some capacity in the music industry as a professional
singer, but the music industry can be brutal. I’m ready for it now. I’ve got thicker skin.

You have just released the new single “Nowhere Fast.” How did the idea for this single come
together?

Shaun: It all came from the first line. “Took your photograph off of my bedside table, thinking that it might help.” Straight away, you can imagine this guy in the room and what he would do next.

How would you compare the creative process behind your debut single “Stuck On You” to
“Nowhere Fast”?

Shaun: They’re polar opposites. Stuck On You is pretty much my marriage experience, and nowhere
Fast is a fun breakup song. It sounds weird, but it’s more about going out and enjoying yourself
despite the feelings you’re carrying.

What does this song personally mean to you?

Shaun: That when you’re not over someone, you go through stages. As a younger man, the first thing
I’d do after breaking up with someone was to go out and get trashed before coming to my
senses.

If listeners could take anything away from this song, what would you like it to be?

Shaun: That someone else is going through what you’re going through, and how you choose to process
your feelings is OK.

What are some of the things you enjoy outside of music?

Shaun: I love cooking and exercise, but more than anything, just being with my wife watching Grey’s
Anatomy or anything else, wondering where the day went, and thinking, “We have to do this all
again tomorrow.” But what a privilege that is.

If you could perform a duet with anyone in the world, who would it be & why?

Shaun: Gosh, this is hard. Chris Stapleton, I think. His music brought me back into the country fold and
showed me that country music isn’t just one thing. You can be soulful and still write country
music. I’ve got so much more to come!

What advice would you offer to someone who was looking to pursue a career within the music
industry?

Shaun: Understand that luck plays a massive part in success, but luck rewards hard work. We’re our
own worst critics, but just putting your music out in the world is a huge deal. It doesn’t need to
be perfect, and you will grow as an artist the more you put music out. Keep pushing!

Finally, is there a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous
Revolution?

Shaun: Christmas is coming! A time to be grateful for everything we have. I hope you all have someone
to love and who loves you. If you are alone and just want a chat, send me an email at
shaunantony86@gmail.com.
