Emerging actress & singer-songwriter Jillian Jordyn (also known as Jillian Rose) looks to make her impression on the music scene with the release of the original new single “Fake Friends”.
Jillian has been singing for as long as she could remember & could only foresee herself stepping into the shoes of becoming a performer. In 2017, Jillian booked her first professional gig by singing at Madison Square Garden for a half-time show. She has also performed the national anthem at Citi Field for the New York Mets and Barclays Center for the Brooklyn Nets.
During 2019, Jillian went on the Boys of Summer Tour, performed at Winter Lights Orlando, and appeared as Attica Staines on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Now, Jillian has released the brand new original single “Fake Friends” that was written by Jillian & produced by Loft Sound Studio (known for their work with Madison Beer, Jason Derulo, Conor Maynard, Raquel Castro, Anne Winters, and Why Don’t We) and Steve Venti.
Jillian has kindly taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution regarding her latest single, along with getting to know more from the artist herself. You can check out the full interview below.
Hey Jillian, thank you so much for this interview. Can you start by telling the readers a little bit about yourself?
Jillian: I am a 16-year-old singer/songwriter and actress. I have been singing since I could speak! Music has always been a huge part of my life, it’s the one thing that keeps me focused and grounded.
When did you first discover your passion for music?
Jillian: I have had my passion for music and singing for as long as I can remember, my parents always tell stories of me as a baby singing to myself in my crib.
Have you always known that you wanted to pursue a career in music?
Jillian: Yes!! I don’t think there has been anything else I’ve wanted to do. Music has always been my first priority.
How would you describe your musical style to someone unfamiliar with your music?
Jillian: I would say my music is teen pop, like Tate McRae, Arianna Grande or Billie Eilish.
You are set to release your debut single “Fake Friends” on June 1st. How did the idea for this song come together?
Jillian: The idea for this song came from the realization that sometimes friends aren’t who you think they are. I wanted to share my story so people of all ages can relate and know they are not alone in the struggles of friendship. We have all dealt with the rise and fall of friendships, and what we learn from it makes us stronger and a better friend.
Did you always plan to release “Fake Friends” as your debut single?
Jillian: “Fake Friends” is the very first song I ever wrote, so it only felt right to release it first.
What does this song personally mean to you?
Jillian: This song means everything to me. I wrote “Fake Friends” so people know they aren’t alone in their social struggles. This song is meant to turn disappointment into strength and to give people the courage to do better and be better. “Fake Friends” is me wanting to share my hopes of empowerment and the importance of kindness and inclusion.
If listeners could take something away from this song, what would you like it to be?
Jillian: Be true to yourself, Stand up for yourself, and be the kind of friend to others that you would want to be surrounded by. Friends should be there to build each other up and stand behind one another in the tough times and good times. Remember the people that are always there to stand beside you, those are your true friends.
What are some of the things you enjoy outside of music?
Jillian: I love to hang out with friends, work out and bake. During my time away from music I enjoy playing with my dogs and perfecting my dessert-making skills. I use my family as my taste testers.
If you could perform a duet with anyone on the planet, who would you choose & why?
Jillian: Justin Bieber. Hands down. He is the reason I got into music, JB has always been my inspiration.
What song do you always keep on your playlist & why?
Jillian: “Boyfriend” by Justin Bieber. It’s a bop! Never fails to put me in a good mood!
What is one item you can’t live without?
Jillian: Starbucks…..Mango Dragon Refresher….. No day is complete without it.
If you could possess any superpower, what would you choose & why?
Jillian: I would say the power to read minds, you would always know what people were really thinking!! How cool Is that????
Finally, is there a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?
Jillian: Be yourself…Be confident…Be Fabulous….and most of all love yourself! If you love yourself everyone else will too!!
