Emerging songstress Emily Clair proceeds to share her innovative musical style that resonates deep from the emotional core of her distinctive & cherished storytelling talents throughout the global music scene.
Not long ago, Emily unveiled the brand new single “Drive Me Home” which is a bold exploration of physical chemistry and passion from the female perspective that is defined by Emily’s strong and sultry vocals. It was co-written by Emily with Doug Folkins and CMAO-nominated Shawn Moore (who also produced).
Emily has kindly taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution regarding her latest musical release, along with getting to know more from the artist behind the music. Check out the full interview below!
Hey Emily, thank you for this interview. Can you start by telling the readers a little bit about yourself?
Emily: I’m Emily Clair, a country singer and songwriter originally from Ajax, Ontario in Canada. I’m trying to bring a more soulful and sultry sound to the mainstream country music scene.
When did you first discover your passion for music?
Emily: I’ve always loved music, and it’s always felt natural to me. I was raised in a musical family, and my passion for music started around the age of 3, when I would sing myself to sleep as child!
Have you always known that you wanted to pursue a career within the music industry?
Emily: I always knew from a young age that I wanted to grow up and pursue singing as my career. There was never a point where that changed – it was always music for me!
How would you describe your musical style to someone unfamiliar with your music?
Emily: I would describe my music as country soul with a sultry sound.
You recently released the brand-new single “Drive Me Home”. How did the inspiration for this song come together?
Emily: I wanted to write something fun and happy, but not your typical drinking song. I wanted to write something honest about something that not a lot of women sing about in country music. I wanted to write from a female’s perspective about her desires.
Did you always plan to release “Drive Me Home” as a single?
Emily: I knew from the moment I wrote it that I was going to record it right away.. It’s certainly a favourite of mine. I always know instantly if I’m going to record a song I’ve written!
What does this song personally mean to you?
Emily: This song to me means female empowerment. It’s perfectly normal for a woman to express her wants and desires.
How did your family & friends react to your latest release?
Emily: My family and friends have always been so supportive of my music, and they were very excited about this release.
If listeners could take something away from this song, what would you like it to be?
Emily: It would be that they realize that it’s refreshing to hear a female perspective instead of a man’s on her wants and needs. Female artist can sing about this topic too!
What are some of the things you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Emily: In my spare time, I love to explore and travel. You’ll find me outdoors, hiking, riding my dirt bike and camping, and if I’m not doing any of that then I’m most definitely binge-watching something good on Netflix.
If you could perform a duet with anyone in the world, who would you choose & why?
Emily: I would duet with Chris Stapleton. He is an incredible singer and songwriter, and my favourite country artist. I love his soulful sound and singing with him would be a dream.
What three words best describe you?
Emily: Honest, Genuine, & Compassionate.
What was the last TV series you binge-watched & did you enjoy it?
Emily: I’ve binged watched so much on Netflix, and one of the last series I watched was “Working Moms”. I absolutely loved it – it was hilarious and I’d watch it all over again if I had to!
If you could possess one superpower, what would you choose & why?
Emily: It would be to fly, because who wouldn’t want to feel free? Also I’d never have to sit in traffic again, so that’s a plus!
Finally, is there a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?
Emily: I’ll be releasing an EP this fall, stay tuned!
