With ear-catching singles such as “Bonnie & Clyde” & “Row Your Own” already to her name, Lucy is now set to make waves amongst the music scene once more with her debut release of 2021 “All This Time”.
Lucy has kindly taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution about her latest release. Check out what she said below.
Hey Lucy, thank you so much for this interview. You have just released the new single “All This Time” on February 12th. How did the idea to create this song come together?
Lucy: I wrote it about 18 months ago. It’s very much a reaction song to my struggle to find ‘love song’ lyrics that I was happy with. I found myself unable to write a love song without it feeling twee or cliche, so I decided to simply write about the super realistic elements of love. Not the romantic, exciting parts, but the mundane and the everyday.
What would you consider to be the main influence behind the lyrical aspect of this track?
Lucy: My partner and I have a very different kind of relationship, we aren’t overly romantic with each other, and instead focus our energy on being best friends and having fun. That connection and experience was very much the influence and inspiration behind the lyrics.
How would you compare the creative process behind this song to your previous musical releases?
Lucy: This is one track that hasn’t actually changed all that much on the road to release. The basic construct and melody are almost exactly the same as the day I wrote it, with just some slight modifications to lyrics and arrangement. I always knew I wanted to have pedal steel on this track, so it seems apt that this be the first track I release to use it.
How did your family & friends react to your upcoming release?
Lucy: They loved it (although they have to say that!).
What does this song personally mean to you?
Lucy: It is a very personal song. Recently I’ve been writing in a much more detached way, finding my inspiration from other’s stories and experiences, so it’s nice to revisit a time when I was writing about such a deeply personal subject.
If listeners could take one thing away from this song, what would you like it to be?
Lucy: Love isn’t always going to be exciting and romantic, but it’s important to find the joy and relevance in those everyday moments, because that’s what you build a life on.
Do you have any further musical releases planned that you are currently able to tell us about?
Lucy: I can’t give specifics BUT, I do have another four singles that will be released before this year ends!
Finally, is there a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?
Lucy: Only that I hope you know how awesome you are. I’m so grateful for every single person that supports independent musicians, as you really have made a devastating year manageable.
