Rising pop singer-songwriter & designer Nora Lei has just released the brand new single titled “Together” & has kindly taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution about her latest musical piece, along with finding out more about the artist behind the music.
Hey Nora, thank you so much for this interview. Can you start by telling the readers a little bit about yourself?
Nora: Hi! Of course, thank you so much for the interview! I started releasing music this year after a long time love affair with music since I could basically walk. Music has always been important to me and a way to express myself. I always turn to music when I’m going through something, and this year I was able to put that onto paper and share it.
When did you first discover your passion for music?
Nora: When I was younger I was inspired by iconic female artists. It was right around that time when Avril Lavigne was blowing up and Britney Spears released her “Oops I Did It Again” music video. These women gave off an energy I admired, they were passionate, confident and there was something deep inside of me I felt like I shared with them.
How would you describe your musical style to someone unfamiliar with your music?
Nora: My music is sung softly while my lyrics are about whatever I am going through, accompanied by instruments like the guitar, piano or whatever instruments I am really vibing with while working on that song. I always write from my experiences so it’s very personal.
You have just released the brand new single “Together”. How did the inspiration to create this song come together?
Nora: “Together” is about romantic relationships. The push and pull and ups and downs, the good and the bad times. It’s about getting to that place in a relationship where the ups and downs get extreme, but you realize it’s all worth it because that person is your person. You’re happier together.
How would you compare the creative process behind this song to your previous releases?
Nora: This song was written pretty quickly actually, whereas some of my other songs are a longer process. Every time I write it’s different, it depends on what inspires me. This song flowed out of me seamlessly, it was really fun to write since it has a bit more of a dancing beat.
What does the song personally mean to you?
Nora: That relationships aren’t perfect, but if it means enough to you it’s always worth the fight. Good things don’t come easy, you have to work for them.
What message would you like listeners to take away from this upcoming release?
Nora: If you are in a relationship and you can relate, and if it feels right, truly right, give it your all. Embrace imperfections. But don’t ever forget your worth.
What are some of the things you enjoy outside of music?
Nora: I love writing, cooking, designing, hanging with my boyfriend and dog, and experiencing new cultures and traveling (although we aren’t doing much of that now because of the pandemic)!
Aside from music, you also are a designer with your swimwear line Perfect Peach. How did the idea to create this concept come together?
Nora: I went to school for fashion design and fell in love with the idea that clothes can help you build your confidence. After working with some designers in New York City I decided to turn my ideas on paper into something. That’s when my brand was born, I launched my swimwear brand with my passion for design and in hopes of bringing women this confidence when they wore my suits.
What advice would you offer to someone looking to follow your footsteps into either the music or designer industry?
Nora: Be yourself. Get inspired but don’t look at other people, do research sure and get inspired but always go back to your roots and what makes you you. Whatever makes you tick, that’s what will make you different and stand out. Stick with it, it all takes time.. It’s all a part of the journey.
Finally, is there a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?
Nora: Whatever it is that makes you happy, explore it, go for it. Take the risks. If you believe in it, it will end up happening if you want it bad enough!
