Interview: Tezza Discusses The Release Of Her Latest Single “Mercury Rising”!

Rising country-pop musician Tezza has swiftly created a name for herself within the current music scene with her vibrantly unique musical style that has already received over 2 million streams on Spotify alone.

Tezza has kindly taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution about her recent single release “Mercury Rising”, along with finding out more about the artist behind the music. You can find out what she has to say below.

Hey Tezza, Thank you so much for agreeing to this interview. Can you start by telling the readers a little bit about yourself?

Tezza: I am a pop-country artist who was born and raised in upstate New York. I grew up riding horses and working at my family’s ice cream shop. When I was in high school I started a country band and starting playing every bar, fair, festival I could find. I went to Berklee College of Music, worked for Saturday Night Live and then moved to Nashville to pursue my career as a country artist.

How long have you known that a career within the music industry was something that you wanted to pursue?

Tezza: I knew I wanted to be in music ever since I can remember. I grew up listening and singing along to Faith Hill, Shania Twain, Trisha Yearwood and have been hooked ever since.

How would you describe your musical style to someone unfamiliar with your music?

Tezza: Pop-country with a Northeastern twist.

You recently released the single “Mercury Rising”, which sounds awesome by the way. How did the idea to create the song first come together?

Tezza: Thank you, I’m so glad you enjoyed it. The song all started with the idea “Mercury Rising” and that melodic riff that I heard underneath it. It was such a fun song to write and right away I could picture a spacey, futuristic music video to go along with it!

How would you describe the creative process behind this single to your previous releases?

Tezza: Some songs are hard to write while some songs just seem to fall right out, and Mercury Rising was one of those.

How did your family & friends react to your latest release?

Tezza: My family are my biggest supporters which I feel lucky enough to say. They loved this song right away before I even took it into the studio to record, which is always a good sign.

What does the song personally mean to you?

Tezza: This has been one of my favorite songs to record and release. The response has been overwhelming reaching over 2.5 Million, earning a spot on Spotify’s biggest country playlists: Hot Country and New Boots, and currently being featured on CMT. It has had quite the journey and I feel so blessed.

What are some of the things you enjoy outside of music?

Tezza: Riding horses, customizing clothing.

What was the first album you ever brought & do you still listen to it now?

Tezza: Gosh I don’t remember the first album I ever bought but I know every word to every cd my mom ever bought. Throw in a Faith Hill cd and I could sing you every line.

If you could perform a duet with anyone in the world, who would you choose & why?

Tezza: John Mayer, because he’s John Mayer.

What is one item that you can’t live without?

Tezza: My guitar.

What was the last movie you watched & did you enjoy it?

Tezza: The last thing I watched was actually a television series called The Tutors and I loved it! Highly recommend.

If you could possess any superpower, what would you choose & why?

Tezza: Time travel. I have always loved history and would love the opportunity to experience it first had.
