Interview: Halle Kearns Discusses The Release Of Her debut single “Pick Me Up”!

Upcoming country singer-songwriter Halle Kearns has recently released her debut single “Pick Me Up”, with an accompanying music video that swiftly followed.

Halle has kindly taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution about her debut release, alongside getting to know more about the artist behind the music.

Hey Halle, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Can you start by telling the readers a little bit about yourself?

Halle: Hi Jess, thanks so much for having me! A little bit about me… I grew up in Columbia, Missouri for my first 18 years, then moved to Kansas City after high school for about 4 before making the move to Nashville! I’ve been here for about a year and a half now 🙂

When did you first discover your passion for music & knew that it was a career that you wanted to pursue?

Halle: I started playing the guitar around 13/14 years old, and have been hooked on music since then. I knew it was going to be something I pursued as a career when I was a junior in high school, about 16 years old. Everyone started talking about college and their next steps, and I realized this was the one thing I really wanted and could see myself doing forever.

What was the first song that you can recall performing in front of an audience & do you still perform it now?

Halle: The first song I ever played out was a cover of “Leave the Pieces” by The Wreckers at a summer camp open mic! I haven’t sung that song in forever, but it’s always going to be one of my favourites for that reason!

How would you describe your musical style to someone unfamiliar with your work?

Halle: “Easy-listening country music” I think is the best way to encapsulate it!

You recently released your debut single “Pick Me Up”, which sounds incredible by the way. How did the idea to create this song come together?

Halle: Well first of all – thank you!! I had the “pick-me-up / pick me up” play on words in mind when entering the write, pitched the idea to my co-writer and we went with it! We came up with some fun melodies first and the chorus came pouring out from there.

What would you consider to be the main inspiration behind the song?

Halle: It was inspired by the feeling of just being exhausted, and really wanting to let go of the stress from a busy week. Looking to my favourite pick-me-ups 🙂

What does the song personally mean to you?

Halle: It means everything right now! It’s the debut showcase as to who I am as an artist and the overall “first!” I will always have a massive soft spot for Pick Me Up.

If listeners could take away one thing from this song, what would you like it to be?

Halle: I really want this song to be an escape for people. A way of uplifting them when the pressure of day-to-day life begins to set in 🙂

How did your family & friends react to your latest release?

Halle: I truly could not have asked for better responses. I have the most supportive people around me! They have been supporting me for years, way prior to this release, and it definitely did everything they could to make this release a successful one.

What are some of the things that you enjoy doing aside from performing?

Halle: I just love being around people. I am extremely extraverted and really enjoy any activity I can do alongside someone! I also got heavily into journaling over the last year, and it has become a key part of my day.

What is one song you always keep on your playlist & why?

Halle: “House That Built Me”. I think it is such a humbling song, and could not be written more beautifully.

If you could perform a duet with anyone in the world, who would you choose & why?

Halle: I keep changing my answer for this! It’s so hard to choose just one person haha. I think at this very moment, I would choose Jason Mraz. He is a huge influence of mine and always knocks his duets way out of the park.

What is the best piece of advice someone has offered you about pursuing a career within music?

Halle: To “get out of my own way” and just go for it! Quit worrying about what people are going to think / say, keep your head down, and work hard 🙂

Finally, is there anything you would like to say to the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?

Halle: I LOVE meeting new people and connecting with fans. Please never hesitate to reach out if you feel inclined!
