Interview: Georgia Nevada Discusses The Release Of Her Debut Single “Whatever You’ve Got”!

UK based country singer-songwriter Georgia Nevada has recently taken the iTunes chart by storm by reaching the number 1 spot with her phenomenal debut single titled “Whatever You’ve Got”.

Now, Georgia has kindly taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution about her debut release, along with getting to know more about the artist behind the music.

Hey Georgia, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Can you start by telling the readers a little bit about yourself?

Georgia: Sure! I’m a U.K. based Country Singer songwriter. I live in Brighton at the moment with my fiancé, pet snakes and too many guitars!

When did you first discover your passion for music & knew that it was a career that you wanted to pursue?

Georgia: My family are super musical, my Dad’s a professional singer & he would sing to me all the time growing up. My Nan also loves country music and used to bring back country CD’s from the states when she would go out there to see my Aunt. I was 13 when my parents bought me my first guitar and 15 when I wrote my first song on it (took a little while!) and since then it’s been all I’ve wanted to do.

How would you describe your musical style to someone unfamiliar with your music?

Georgia: My musical style is definitely a kind of rock-influenced country with the occasional belting vocal and softer parts here and there!

You have just released your debut single “Whatever You’ve Got”. How did the idea to create this song come together?

Georgia: I’d had the idea in my head for a little while. I was settling into a 9-5 simple and routined life & all my family and friends kept saying how much I had my life together but I still just wasn’t happy. I realised that I actually didn’t want to have my life together at all; In that moment I grabbed my guitar, cried a whole bunch and wrote ‘Whatever You’ve Got’!

Alongside your releasing your debut single, you have found yourself heading to number 1 on the UK iTunes country chart. How does it feel having your debut release reaching the top spot?

Georgia: Honestly it’s incredible. I’m still so overwhelmed by the support everyone has shown for this song. I really pushed myself with this release at every level and to have so many people love the song as much as I do, is just an unexplainable feeling.

If listeners could take away one thing from this song, what would you like to be?

Georgia: That sometimes life isn’t necessarily going to go how you planned. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t take a moment to dream about about where you want to be.

What are some of the things you enjoy doing aside from performing?

Georgia: Ooo, I love writing. Songwriting is the best therapy for me. I also love a bit of body combat (when I’m feeling particularly energetic) & cooking!

If you could duet with anyone in the world, who would you choose & why?

Georgia: I’d probably choose Brad Paisley or Ashley Mcbryde. ‘Whiskey Lullaby’ has been one of my favourite songs for years and to duet with Brad would be incredible. Ashley because I think as a country artist, I relate the most to her – and I feel like we could grab a beer after!

What advice would you offer to someone looking to pursue a career within music?

Georgia: I’m no pro by any means but I know that the only way I’ve gotten to this point so far is by pure determination. If there’s something to be done, just doing it is always better than procrastinating!
