Interview: Nadia Vaeh Discusses The Release Of Her Brand New Single “RiSE” (Ft Hazel Rose)!

Pop artist Nadia Vaeh has released the uplifting single “RiSE” (Ft Hazel Rose), with proceeds from the single going towards the Human Rights Campaign. Nadia has taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution about her latest release.

Hey Nadia, thank you for agreeing to this interview. You are about to release your new single “RiSE” featuring Hazel Rose on June 26th, with the proceeds going to HRC (the Human Rights Campaign). How did the idea to create this song come together?

Nadia: I was visiting a friend in Sacramento a couple of years ago and one afternoon we were both just scrolling on our phones and his IG feed hit a video clip of this beat that was definitely a scroll-stopper. I asked him who it was and he explained EG was an old friend. I knew I wanted to write with him right away. He ended up linking us up to work together later that week. Upon arriving, EG introduced me to his cousin, Starr who would join us in this session. As soon as I met them both, I just instantly knew, we were going to create something special. Despite each of our unique journeys that led us to that room the eve that “RiSE” was born, we could not have been more connected. That is what this song is about.

What inspired you to write the lyrical story behind the song?

Nadia: We were all reflecting on what a fast-paced world in which we live and the many barriers that divide us from true human connection. I think we must have all felt the weight of shifts yet to come that night or something. I know we talked a lot about the flaws within the ways we operate as a collective, as we were writing.

How would you describe the creative process behind this song to your previous releases?

Nadia: Like some of my previous releases, this song was written with two people who started out as strangers and are now my brothers. I have been fortunate to build a music family I feel close and safe to be myself around. This song was different in the sense that I got to experiment with a different style. I love experimenting.

How have your family & friends responded to your upcoming release?

Nadia: They love it! I’ve gotten to perform this one out a few times at home shows and people cannot help, but dance. It’s fun to see the energy of the room shift when the beat hits.

What does the song personally mean to you?

Nadia: “RiSE” is about letting go of expectation and letting life give you what is already yours. It can be so easy to force things into place and forget about how sometimes the timing just isn’t right.

I also feel the reminder in this song to work on accepting others for who they are and that always roots back to accepting who I am.

If listeners could take away anything from this release, what would you like it to be?

Nadia: We are responsible to create the shifts needed for a better world for all peoples. It can be so easy to get caught up in the grind or the hustle and forget about the underdog or the people who maybe don’t have all their needs met. We are one in a world where we have to work together to find harmony. We may all feel alone at times, but that lonely feeling is just distraction tapping you on the shoulder from what is really important. No need to rush, “life’s a ride – not a raceway”.

Finally, is there a message you would like to say to the readers of this interview?

Nadia: You. Are. Love(d).
