Interview: Fallon Schultz Discusses The Release Of Her Latest Single “In My Shoes”!

Rising country-pop singer-songwriter Fallon Schultz has recently released the single “In My Shoes” & has taken the time to speak with us about her latest musical release.

Hey Fallon, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Can you start by telling us a little bit about yourself?

Fallon: Hey Jess! Thank you so much for reaching out to chat. This is all so exciting! I was born and raised in Kenosha, Wisconsin and moved to Nashville to pursue my dream in music in June of 2018 shortly after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

When did you first discover your passion for music?

Fallon: Music has been a big part of my whole life. I played piano and flute when I was younger and sang in choir and musical theater in high school. I would make up random songs and sing around the house allllll the time! But I didn’t start actively pursuing music as a career until college where I discovered that no matter what I was doing, music always had my main focus!

Have you always wanted to pursue a career in music?

Fallon: I think in the back of my mind it’s always been there! For a long time I wanted to pursue a career in the healthcare field- which I LOVED. But while in college I knew for certain that music was my true calling and passion, and I wanted to pursue it ASAP!

How would you describe your musical style?

Fallon: Country-pop! Woot woot!

You have recently released your single “In My Shoes”. How did the idea to create this song come together?

Fallon: I was sitting at the kitchen table with my roommate at the time (also one of my best friends & a writer on this song), and we were drinking coffee chatting about our previous break-ups. Over discussion we said “if they knew how bad they hurt us, maybe then they’d be sorry” and realize how bad we were hurt by them! I quickly wrote that down and she said “you need to write that song with Michael Keys so it breaks my heart haha”, because he is an incredible writer and singer himself in this town! So I texted him about it and he responded with the hook “spend a day in my shoes and you’ll realize how much I’m hurting over you”. It was shortly after that we got together and the song was written! 😀

What would you consider to be the main influence behind this single?

Fallon: When you go through a break up, sometimes it can feel very one sided. In this case, it can be pretty hard when you feel like the other person isn’t hurting at all. If they only “spent a day in your shoes” they would understand the hurting they caused.

How have your family & friends reacted to your recent release?

Fallon: They have been so incredible!! The support and encouragement I have received in pursuing this dream and the release has been absolutely amazing. My family and friends have been so supportive the whole way through and continue to support and encourage me every day I’m on this journey! They are amazing and I am so blessed to have them all in my life!

What does the song personally mean to you?

Fallon: Literally everything. Happiness, love, encouragement, strength, excitement, dancing, a milestone. This song is something that I am very proud of in more ways than one. From when we first wrote the song to recording it in the studio, it has been incredible watching this part of my dream unfold! It’s an amazing experience to have something to show for how hard you’re working and how much time you’re spending on getting a song released. It’s the best feeling in the world when the world can finally hear it!

If listeners could take away one thing from this song, what would it be?

Fallon: YOU ARE STRONG! ❤ Although the lyrics are sad, this song is upbeat and meant to be a jam! It might feel one sided and not fair now, but if you can find even a moment of happiness amongst the chaos, you’ll find you’ll be okay ❤ Dancing & singing at the top of your lungs always helps! Woot woot!

What are some of the things you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Fallon: Hanging out with friends and listening to live music! I love exploring Tennessee and all it has to offer, and traveling as much as I am able to. Also, a good Disney+ movie and some coffee is a great time haha!

If you could perform a duet with anyone in the world, who would you choose & why?

Fallon: Sugarland!! I’ve listened to them all throughout growing up, and still do. Their song “Stay” is one of the first covers I learned to sing & probably had it on repeat every day for a few months when I heard it. Still one of my all time favorite songs of theirs and in general! They’re incredible and it would be a dream to perform with them!

What was the last song you added to your playlist?

Fallon: Lady Antebellum- Champagne Night (From Songland)!

What would you consider to be your favourite album of all time?

Fallon: Brett Eldredge- Bring You Back!!! Ahhhh!

If you could offer someone advice about pursuing a career in music, what would it be?

Fallon: Believe in yourself, and don’t ever stop! Music is such an art and everyone has their own style and sound. It takes time, so you’ll need to be patient, but it is always SOOOOOO worth the ride!

Finally, is there a message you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?

Fallon: Thank you so much for taking the time to read this interview! I am so grateful for Fierce & Fabulous Revolution for reaching out & having me involved. I am on all socials and would love to hear your feedback on my song! I will hopefully be having more music being released this Fall. Thank you for supporting and listening to musicians from all around the world like myself! We couldn’t do it without you all!
