Singer-songwriter & author Charlotte Eriksson aka The Glass Child has recently released the brand new single “Alone With You” & has taken the time to speak with us about her latest release!

Hiya, thank you so much for agreeing to this interview, can you start by telling us a little bit about yourself?

Charlotte: I’m an author and songwriter from Sweden, but have spent the last ten years wandering around Europe.

When did you first discover your passion for music & knew that it was something that you wanted to pursue?

Charlotte: I found music when I was around 14 years old. I learned to record myself and just fell in love with writing and producing. When I was 18 I moved to London to pursue songwriting and I’ve been doing this ever since!

Aside from singing, you are also a very talented writer, with a number of published pieces. How did you first discover your love for writing?

Charlotte: When I first embarked on the journey of trying to become a songwriter, I started documenting it, mostly for myself, but I also shared it on Tumblr and Twitter. It was sort of like a journal of a girl who’s trying to fight for her dream. When I released my first album in 2013 I published my first book alongside it, as the story behind the album. I wanted people to get an insight into  the journey that lead to that record.
I fell in love with book publishing and writing after that and just kept writing.

You have just released your brand new single “Alone With You”, which sounds amazing by the way. How did the inspiration to release this song come together?

Charlotte: Thank you! The song is straight up autobiographical, which is usually where my urge to write comes from: capture a moment in time and make sense of it through music.

How would you compare the creative journey behind this single to your previous releases?

Charlotte: Every song happens differently. There is no formula to creativity or songwriting, which is why it’s so magical. But writing ‘Alone With You’ inspired me to want to make another album, and it was the starting point for everything I’ll be releasing this year.

What message would you like listeners to take away from this latest release?

Charlotte: Maybe not a message, but if I can make someone out there feel something with my music–anything, then I’m happy.

How have your family & friends reacted to this latest single?

Charlotte: I don’t think they even know I’ve released it haha!

Are there any more musical releases in the near future that you can tell us about?

Charlotte: I have a lot of singles coming out this year before the full album will be out end of the year.

When you are not writing or performing, what do you like to get up to in your spare time? Any hobbies?

Charlotte: A good cup of coffee watching the sunrise with someone beautiful. Or taking trips to nowhere to wander around.

What was the last movie you watched at the cinema & did you enjoy it?

Charlotte: Oh wow.. I can’t even remember last time I went to the cinema… I saw the Amy Winehouse documentary many years ago, that one really got to me. I guess I need to take a trip to the cinema!

What song do you always keep on your playlist & why?

Charlotte: Round Here by Counting Crows. It reminds me of why I wanted to be a songwriter.

If you could duet with anyone in the world, who would it be & why?

Charlotte: Trevor Hall. Because everything he does is soulful and pure. I would like to just be around his presence.

What song do you feel best describes your personality?

Charlotte: Mmmbop by Hanson!

Who is your favourite author & what are some of your favourites novels by them?

Charlotte: There are so many wonderful writers, each in every category.. I love ‘Crush’ by Richard Siken. Anything by Joseph Campbell and of course my spirit animal Charles Bukowski.

Finally, is there a message you would like to say to the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?

Charlotte: You’re under no obligation to be who people think you are. Change, grow, rearrange yourself. Free and beautiful things always bloom and spark with no holding back.
