Interview: Issie Swickle Talks About Her Single “Me, You”!

Upcoming musical sensation Issie Swickle is set to release her brand new single “Me, You” on September 13th 2019, & I have had the chance to talk to this talented musician about her new single, along with getting to know more about the artist herself!

Hey Issie, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Could you start by telling us a little bit about yourself?

Sure! I’m 14 years old, love to sing and perform and I’m excited to start a new chapter in my career by writing and releasing my own music. I started off in Broadway at nine years old playing “Annie” on the National Broadway Tour for 20 months. I toured the country and had the most amazing experiences along the way, all the while I got to meet fans of all ages! The transition from Broadway to Pop Music has been so freeing and a wild ride.

When did you first discover your love for music & know that it was a career that you wanted to pursue?

I was 4 years old when I started watching Hannah Montana and told my mom that I wanted to be just like her. My first concert ever was Miley Cyrus and it inspired the theme for my 5th birthday party. Of course it was a Hannah Montana party where I wore a blond wig, a purple sequin dress and sang on the stage at Broadway Kids Studio in Davie, Florida.
BKS is an after school performing arts school where the owner, Michelle Ameerally, told my mom at the party that I could sing and invited me to attend her program. I was there seven days a week and wouldn’t ever want to leave. I took singing, dancing and acting classes and that’s where my love for Broadway and performing developed.

You are set to release your brand new single “Me, You” on September 13th. Can you tell us more about the inspiration behind this single?

I think it’s from life experiences from being a teenager! Teens today are more vocal and taking control over their own lives and relationships. This song is about just that. It’s about being comfortable with who you are and not settling in a relationship. It’s also about recognizing that hanging with friends is just as fun.

What does the song personally mean to you?

It’s an anthem! It reminds me to remember my worth, what I want in life and to never settle. Also, I love having great friends and their support. That means the world to me.

How have your family & friends reacted to the single?

They love it! Of course my parents love it because they are my parents.  The true test is my older brother Max, who is 17 years old. If he thinks it’s good then I know, it’s a good song. He actually likes it! He gets what it’s about. My friends and I jam to it.  hey are ones that told me that it was an “Anthem” song.

Are there any performances planned alongside the release of your upcoming single?

I just performed in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at the Kids Expo, and then New York Fashion Week for two shows! Mixing fashion and music was amazing. I think having live music while the models were walking added an extra element to the show. I’m also performing in November for an amazing event hosted by East Coast Starz and I have just secured an amazing festival in November but can’t say which one yet until it’s finalized.

Who are some of your musical heroes?

Lady Gaga for sure. Of course the queen, Miley Cyrus. P!nk, Kelly Clarkson and Demi Lovato round out my list. They are powerful artists who are who they are and are not apologetic about it!!!! They all do not fit the “perfect” mold.  I don’t fit the mold and that’s inspiring.

What do you like to do when you are not performing? Any hobbies?

I LOVE hanging with my friends. And tanning!!! I love to tan. I listen to music and chill. Any hobbies? Performing is my hobby! Never really did anything else than performing. Except when I was on the road, I picked up knitting. That was fun.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go & why?

I would want to go to Paris. It just seems so beautiful, eclectic and exciting. Plus my mom always talks about going there and it would be fun to take her there.

Finally, is there anything you would like to say to the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?

Keep being fierce & fabulous. Be who you are because that’s the best thing to do. BE YOU!!! and thanks for following me and listening to my music. I hope you enjoy the song and it inspires you!!
