Cleveland-based pop singer-songwriter Kelsey Olivia shares the brand new single “Quit”, which is the first release from the upcoming album!
This latest release reflects on the temptation of an old relationship and the drawing nature of a love that should be left behind. With honest lyricism backed by an unshakable beat, Kelsey lets listeners into an emotional depth.

Hey Kelsey, thank you for this interview. Can you start by introducing yourself to readers who might be unfamiliar with your music?
Kelsey: Hi! My name is Kelsey Olivia, and I am a 22 year old pop artist from Cleveland, OH! My goal is to help people with my music in the same way other artists helped me with theirs. There are times where songs have saved me when people couldn’t and it always helps to remind me that I am not alone- I wish to do the same for others 🙂
When did you first discover your passion for music?
Kelsey: When I was very young! I always remember loving to sing and write and never really knew any different.
Have you always wanted to pursue a career within the music industry?
Kelsey: Yes, I always knew I was going to pursue a career in the entertainment industry, but I originally started with acting when I was younger and transitioned to music as I got older.
On April 17th, you released the brand new single “Quit.” How did the idea for the song come together?
Kelsey: I have always wanted to make a song like this and when the opportunity presented itself sonically, I knew I had to take it. It is different from songs I have made in the past, but I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing.
What does this song personally mean to you?
Kelsey: I am very proud of this song as it helps to showcase my diversity under the pop umbrella, and I feel it is a good way to set the undertone of the album going forward.
Did you always plan to release “Quit” as a single?
Kelsey: “Quit” was written early on in the album’s writing cycle, but I was still unsure if it was going to be a single until we recorded it. The moment it was finished it though, I knew it was going to be the first release from this album.
What message would you like listeners to take from this song?
Kelsey: Sometimes people are just inescapable.
This song also marks your first release from the forthcoming album. What are some of the things that we can anticipate from the album?
Kelsey: A lot of complex emotions and themes. This is definitely one of the most difficult projects I have had to create in terms of writing and listeners can expect to hear intricate lyrics partnered with lots of different sonic variation.
What message would you offer to someone who was looking to pursue a career within the music industry?
Kelsey: Save everything. Every piece of writing, every demo, every beat typically serves a purpose down the line, and it can help to have all of these projects to look back on especially when you are drawing inspiration for something new.
