Following the success of singles such as “I Lied” & “Sometimes” in 2022, Nashville-based singer-songwriter Faïnn returns with the emotionally moving new single “Golden”.
After years of issues with vocal injuries & lack of confidence within the industry, Faïnn has completed a full circle, returning as a vocal coach to the University she left previously. This latest release produces a homage to the process of regaining confidence.
Faïnn has kindly taken the time to talk with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution regarding the release of the incredible single “Golden”, along with what’s in store for the EP due later this year. You can find the full interview below.
Hey Faïnn, thank you for this interview. Can you start by introducing yourself to readers who might be unfamiliar with your music?
Faïnn: Thank you for having me! Absolutely. I am a singer/songwriter based in Nashville, TN. I began my career by releasing cover songs in 2019 and gradually moved toward releasing my own music last year. I tend to write songs that have a chill, dreamy aesthetic.
How would you currently describe your music style?
Faïnn: I would say indie pop with cinematic influences. I am really inspired by artists like Lana Del Rey, LÉON, and Dido, so if you like any of those artists, hopefully, you’ll like what I do. 🙂
You just released your new single “Golden. How did the idea for this song come together?
Faïnn: Golden is sort of a love letter to my husband, Jeremy. I had been through a season of many ups and downs when I came up with the idea for this song. There was a lot of uncertainty in my life at the time, but I was just so grateful to have him as my sounding board and my partner. I don’t know how I would have gotten through some of those things without him by my side. And so I wanted to write a song that tried to capture just how precious and special our relationship is to me.
This song was inspired by your personal journey in regaining trust & confidence after years of dealing with vocal injuries & lack of confidence within the industry. What does it mean to you to be sharing this song with the world?
Faïnn: It really means so much. When I wrote this song, I was coming out of such a dark spiral and in such a vulnerable place. I have been so nervous or self-conscious when I’ve put out other songs, but I’m honestly just so excited about this one. It just feels good to put such a feel-good message out into the world!
Did you always plan to release “Golden” as a single?
Faïnn: Actually, no! I had another song that I had planned to be part of the EP that I wanted to release as a single, but when all of the other songs came together, the song just felt too dark. I played quite a few shows last summer, and I decided to add “Golden” to the setlist. More people came up to me about that song after my shows than any of my other originals in the set. People were responding to this song and I loved the message, so I decided to release it as a single!
What does this song personally mean to you?
Faïnn: I think you learn something about yourself after writing each and every song. And for this one, I realized how important it is to find your person or your tribe. I tend to take on too much and try to handle things (good and bad) on my own. But human beings are not meant to do that. We are meant to have relationships and community. And the people who you surround yourself with are so special and so precious and not to be taken for granted. My life has changed in so many positive ways when I opened up and allowed the people I love to be more of a part of my life.
If listeners could take anything from this song, what would you like it to be?
Faïnn: Let yourself be loved and taken care of by those you love! Odds are, they want to be there for you like you are for them.
Later this year, we will see the release of your EP. What are some of the things you can currently tell us about the EP itself?
Faïnn: I am so excited to have my whole EP out in the world! It’s been such a long time coming. It’s currently slated for release in June and will include four songs. The title track, Force, will also be the last single released. I can’t wait for you to hear it!
What advice would you offer to someone pursuing a career within the music industry?
Faïnn: There are so many things, but a big one that I continue to learn is that making mistakes is a part of the creative process and is such an incredible opportunity for growth. I can be a bit of a perfectionist, so that’s always a struggle for me. Don’t let those moments get you down. Just keep going!
Finally, is there a message that you would like to share with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?
Faïnn: Your dreams are worth pursuing and fighting for!
