Swedish singer-songwriter duo Zara & Jessica continue to share their extraordinary musical style through a host of distinctively grasping singles, which individually showcase their musical creativity & heartfelt vocals.
Not long ago, this talented duo unveiled their brand new single “Du & Jag” (You & I), which is a festive Swedish ballad that was co-written alongside Ylva & Linda Persson, & Rickard Bonde Truumeel.
Zara & Jessica has kindly spoken to Fierce & Fabulous Revolution regarding their latest musical release & you can find the full interview below.
Hey Zara & Jessica, thank you for this interview. Can you start by telling readers a little bit about yourself?
Zara & Jessica: Hey Jessica! So nice of you to interview us again. We are former singers of a Swedish band called SAREK. Almost twenty years ago we had a big hit called “Genom eld och vatten”. Now we are on our own trying to make it in this business.
When did you both discover your passion for music?
Zara & Jessica: Both of us have always been passionate about music. We literally sang before we could speak.
How would you currently describe your musical style?
Zara & Jessica: Our musical style is very pop. But also a little bit of folk and also a little touch of Swedish folk music.
You just released the new single “Du & Jag”. How did the idea for this song come together & did you always know that you wanted to release “Du & Jag” as a single?
Zara & Jessica: It’s been a while since we released a song so we’re so happy to share this Christmas song with our listeners.
Jessica: It actually came together last Christmas. I (Jessica) was driving around in my little town of ÖrnsköIdsvik and looking at all the Christmas decorations and the snow. And all of a sudden the lyrics of the first verse of the song just came to me. When we decided to release a Christmas song this year I already had the beginning ready. And co-writing it with Ylva & Linda was a natural step. We always have a great time working together.
What does this song mean to you?
Zara & Jessica: Every song that we release means something special in our creative work.
If listeners could take something away from this song, what would you like it to be?
Zara & Jessica: We love the spirit of Christmas and how we are building our families and our own traditions around it and we wanted somehow to spread that feeling. If we leave them with a little bit of that feeling; mission accomplished.
