INTERVIEW: Gabrielle DeRosa Discusses The Release Of The Brand New Album ‘The Sparkle’!

Artistically charismatic Italian singer-songwriter Gabrielle DeRosa continues to impact the music world with her naturally creative style, which opens up a world of interpretation that listeners can find creative solace within.

Now, Gabrielle has unveiled the brand new album ‘The Sparkle’ & has kindly taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution regarding her latest musical release. You can find the full interview listed below.

Hey Gabrielle, thank you so much for this interview. Can you start by telling the readers a little bit about yourself?

Gabrielle: Thank you so much for this interview Jess, I am always happy to collaborate with you and I love your blog. I am Gabrielle DeRosa from Gallipoli, Italy, ENFJ, I love adventure, mystery, epic moments and being creative. Singer-songwriter since I was 13, in 2012, when I registered at S.I.A.E., my performing rights organisation. I work digitally since I was 19, from 2017 with CD Baby, but in the beginning, it was only part-time because of school and university. Now I am 23 years old and a few months ago I took my Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science and Technology. Entering the world of work completely allowed me to grow and have more time for myself and my music. Therefore, I created my team, I made some professional agreements with a few trusted collaborators, and I started to earn money with a second online job to invest in my musical career independently… and this is where I am now. Investing and creating, my songs, art and science, every day.

When did you first discover your passion for music?

Gabrielle: I first discovered my passion for music when I was too young to remember. My mother always tells me that I started singing even before speaking. However, I do remember that singing and inventing songs in the moment has always made me feel good, so as a child I always did that.

Have you always known that you wanted to pursue a career within the music industry?

Gabrielle: Yes. It was my biggest dream, but not the only one. I also wanted to be a scientist! So I’m glad I was able to continue with my passion for nature and science as well.

How would you describe your music style to someone unfamiliar with your music?

Gabrielle: I would probably use music genres and moods: folk-pop, singer-songwriter, acoustic, with country influences and epic mood.

You have just released the brand new album ‘The Sparkle’. How did the idea for this album come together?

Gabrielle: It is a very personal album, it took courage to write it, but it reflects who I am and it feels like my first album was a “prequel” for it. I simply write and sing my songs in daily life, it’s my main job so it is part of my normal routine. When I realised I had achieved the necessary agreements and monthly income to start releasing albums instead of singles or EPs (it has a cost, and without your own team or a music label it’s hard to pay it), I collected and finished seven songs I wanted to release. The style is personal because now I am my true self.

What are some of the main influences behind the songs featured on the album?

Gabrielle: Definitely, Epic music and Celtic / Irish music, with a little bit of Country, as always. It is a mixture of my favourite music genres as an everyday music listener and it is what I also like to create in a personal style for my own songs. It’s balanced.

What are some of your favourite tracks to feature on the album?

Gabrielle: My best one is probably “The Snowland”, I feel like I really did better than what I expected. I really like “The Sparkle” too, but in general… it is hard to choose between my own songs! They feel like part of my soul, and I love them all.

If listeners could take anything away from this album, what would you like it to be?

Gabrielle: I hope they take some strength, passion and courage. I have plenty of those and I think I can share them with others.

What does this album personally mean to you?

Gabrielle: To me, this album feels like being who I really am and doing what I really want to do in life. It may seem easy to others, but it wasn’t always easy for me. Therefore, I am proud of myself for reaching this point, and sharing it with the world means the world for me.

Are there any songs that did not feature on the final tracklist, which we could see released at a later date?

Gabrielle: Not precisely, but you will definitely see my music videos and lyric videos on YouTube for each song. In the end, it will be a visual album compilation, like my latest EP Stargazing, but also with lyrics videos. And when I will finish the project, I will always release more songs when it is possible. I hope to keep improving, releasing and creating with the frequency I have now.

What advice would you offer to someone who was looking to pursue a career within the music industry?

Gabrielle: In general, I would say “keep going, never give up, and choose the right people to work with”. In specific, I actually created a free opportunity for aspiring to intermediate level independent singer-songwriters who want to become professional (or for the curious people who are interested in this job!). It is available at the following link, and it contains three free videos with a project and links to my other services that I created with my manager to help aspiring, beginners and intermediate levels to become professional and successful with a great choice of alternatives at fair prices. This is the link to the free workshop, it contains all the most important things they need to know: https://gabriellederosa.it/free-workshop. The rest is optional.

Finally, is there a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?

Gabrielle: I would like to thank you for reading this interview, for reading all these articles and reviews, and most of all for supporting Jess and her project. I hope you can find inspiration and beauty through my songs. I’ll see you there, Gabrielle DeRosa.
