The exciting new country music collaboration Whiskey Fixx has swiftly turned heads through their classicly comforting musical style & passion-filled vocals.
Not long ago, Whiskey Fixx released the brand new single “Broken” & lead singer Heather Nicole has kindly taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution about their latest musical release, along with getting to know more from the artists behind the music.
Hey Whiskey Fixx, thank you so much for this interview. Can you start by telling the readers a little bit about yourselves?
After being in the music industry for many years, I decided it was time to step out and have a project of my own. Even though I have performed many genres of music, I had never been the front person on stage. It seems crazy but I was really intimidated at first to “work the crowd” when the music stopped. Talking to an audience seemed so scary! I think it was something that was always holding me back from having a band of my own. Now that I have been doing it for a few years it seems silly that it was such a fear of mine for so long.
When did you all first discover your passion for music?
I can’t remember a time where it was not a passion of mine. I started singing in church at age 5 and loved every moment of performing in front of people. I always knew this was what I was meant to do.
How did the idea to form Whiskey Fixx first come together?
I had been singing back up in a band for several years and needed a change. I was not sure the direction I wanted to go at first. Aaron and I decided to put together a group and created a vision for what we were looking for. We found other players that shared our goals and everything happened pretty quickly.
How would you describe your musical style to someone unfamiliar with your music?
My style is Gretchen Wilson meets Carrie Underwood. I was always the “angel voice” and becoming a frontwoman challenged me to get in touch with a tougher side and blend the two. I love the pretty songs but combining that with an edgy feel really helps us stand out as a group.
You recently released the brand new single “Broken”. How did the idea for this song come together?
This idea came to me during a tough time I was struggling through. I loved the metaphor of seeing something broken and realizing you can take that and create something so much better from it. At the time I was in-between stages of how I was going to do that and if I even wanted to. In writing this song it helped me decide to be a better person and pray for strength to pick up those broken pieces of my life and make a change for the better.
Did you always plan to release “Broken” as a single?
Yes – I knew I wanted to release this song as soon as possible because it really resonated with me and knew it would others as well.
What does the song personally mean to you?
Sometimes when things seem too far gone, and you have built up walls, only God can break those down and help you to see the walls created. He can help repair hurt and turn something sorrowful into something beautiful
If listeners could take one thing away from this song, what would you like it to be?
If you are hurting and feel like you have done everything to fix a situation, take a good look at yourself and ask God to show you what you need to see in yourself. He will repair any hurt if you let him. Although it’s difficult at the moment it is not hard. Let go!
Do you have any further musical releases planned that you can currently tell us about?
I have a few songs that I have been working on and have some ideas that I am collaborating with other artists on. I am really excited about a few and not sure at this time what the next single will be.
What are some of the things you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I really enjoy doing home projects and have been getting more into interior design lately. Also, summer is approaching and I really enjoy spending time outside boating, grilling, and relaxing in the sunshine.
What is one song you always keep on your playlist & why?
“Good Girl” by Carrie Underwood is always on my daily playlist. I grew up loving that song and now my band gets to perform it as well.
If you could possess one superpower, what would you choose & why?
I would have to say that I would love to see into my future. I am very impatient and want to see the end result. It is a struggle for me to relax and enjoy the journey sometimes.
What advice would you offer to someone looking to pursue a career within the music industry?
Always be true to yourself and what feels right for you. There are so many avenues and options to try but what is right for someone else may not be the best way for you. Have solid goals and vision and then just follow your heart.
Finally, do you have a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?
No matter how scary it seems, always dream bigger. If you follow your passion your life will not be wasted.
