Interview: Freya Alley Discusses Her Upcoming Release “Big Wild World”!

Hailing from Vilnius, Lithuania, London based singer-songwriter Freya Alley has caught the attention of music lovers with her charismatic style & soulful vocals.

Freya is about to release the striking and enlightening cinematic new single “Big Wild World” on February 19th & has kindly spoken to Fierce & Fabulous Revolution about her forthcoming release. Find out what she said below.

Hey Freya, thank you so much for this interview. Can you start by telling the readers a little bit about yourself?

Freya: Hey Jess, lovely talking to you and thanks for this opportunity to share my story with your readers. Well, when I talk about myself, the first thought is instant: “I AM… myself”. I know it seems quite an obvious statement so I want to explain a little more what that means to me. I don’t define myself by roles, titles or pre-conceived ideas. I feel like I am a Chameleon, I am many things to many people.

Have you always known that a career within the music industry was something that you wanted to pursue?

Freya: Actually, no! When I was a kid I wanted to be a secret agent. Luckily, this plan didn’t work out as I discovered that singing was much more fun and just as dangerous!

How would you describe your musical style to someone unfamiliar with your music?

Freya: I would describe my music as a family tree: I am the wicked stepsister of Goldfrapp and Banks and RY X is my third cousin once removed!

You are about to release the brand new single “Big Wild World” on February 19th. How did the idea for the song first come together?

Freya: The idea came together when I noticed that there was something I didn’t understand about myself and the world. Why did I want one thing but got completely opposite? Why did I work hard but had nothing to show for it?

I realised I had lost control because I was looking for answers, asking opinions, advice, even spending money on the people that just wanted me to be smaller. I gave my power away with my music and myself.

But one day I woke up and the world was different, I saw myself differently and realised that I had everything within me, I just never noticed it. I started to follow that feeling and a loving voice in my heart, instead of a never tiring incessant mental noise.

The first verse of “Big Wild World” appeared deep inside me and I knew that something great would happen. That was the beginning of this song. It feels as though the song wrote itself. I was just the channel it chose.

What does this song personally mean to you?

Freya: Personally, it’s the most beautiful song I’ve written so it’s really special to me. “Big Wild World” is my healing and transition to the next chapter. This song is sad but positive, deep but light, weightless like a feather but full of thought. It’s a crystal of my heart, it’s the first flower in my garden, it’s precious. It reminds me to love myself unconditionally.

If listeners could take anything away from this song, what would you like it to be?

Freya: I’d like them to come back to a calm, spacious, infinite place deep inside their soul so they can stop for a second and rest there. No matter what their story, they can always start their new life again in this big wild world. You are who you believe you are.

Do you have any further musical releases planned that you are currently able to tell us about?

Freya: Yes yes yes, I’m releasing another song in April and a few more during this year that will materialise into my EP. I’ve also been collaborating with some amazing artists that I’m really excited about. I invite you to follow me and get the updates as some beautiful music is coming soon.

What are some of the things you enjoy outside of music?

Freya: Spending time with myself, dreaming, doing my rituals, reading and spending time with the people I love.

What advice would you offer someone who was looking to pursue a career within the music industry?

Freya: Just do it. If you really want it, focus and do it. Start today, there is no tomorrow. And do it with joy and lightness. When we take things too seriously, the universe gives us serious things back and we immerse into the illusion that everything has to be tough. At the end of the day, the truth is what you believe. This thought changed my life. It can change yours.

Finally, is there a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?

Freya: Thank you for reading this interview and I hope you find your place in this big wild world. I’d love to share my love with you all and I wish you to be your best friend and biggest supporter. You have everything within. Find it!
