Upcoming pop singer-songwriter Peyton Stilling has just released the heartfelt new single titled “Healing”!
Peyton has graciously taken some time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution about her stunning new single. Find out what she had to say below.
Hey Peyton, thank you so much for agreeing to this interview, can you start by telling the readers a little bitabout yourself?
Peyton: I am a 20 year old singer/songwriter from Dallas, TX.
When did you first discover your passion for music?
Peyton: When I was about 14, I remember sitting down with myparents and watching American Idol. I was so enamored with everything. I loved all the stage lighting. I lovedthe costumes. I loved the songs, and I couldn’t believe that some people did it as a job. It was then that I knew what I wanted to do. I asked my mom to sign me up for guitar lessons (which she was very surprisedat, because when I was younger, I had done piano lessons but hated them.) After that, I started trying to write lyrics and come up with melodies etc.
Have you always known that music was a career that you wanted to pursue?
Peyton: When I first started taking music seriously, I was always quite hesitant to share my music with people or tell people that I was amusician. It was just something that I did for fun. I always knew it was what I wanted to do, but I just needed to get some confidence to say this is what I do and this is who I am.
How would you describe your musical style to someone unfamiliar with your music?
Peyton: I would say my music is singer/songwriter with pop elements.
You recently released the brand new single “Healing”, which sounds amazing by the way. How did the inspiration behind this song first come together?
Peyton: I am really glad you like it! The song all came together during quarantine. I had recently broken up with my boyfriend and had also just moved back in with my parents (double whammy). I was writing a lot of music. It is always very therapeutic for me, and Healing wasborn.
How would you compare the creative process behind this song to your previous releases?
Peyton: I worked with new producers for this release. (Mo Elias and Robert Sewell from locknkey). It was the first time being in the studio with someone different, since I recorded my last five singles with the same producer. It was so fun working with them though. We had a writing camp where I turned up with my guitar and a ton of voice notes I had recorded in my bedroom, and we cut about 6 or 7 demos. One of those demos turned out to be Healing.
How did your family & friends react to your recent release?
Peyton: I always play my music to my parents and my brother. They aren’t singers or producers. They aren’t involved in the business. They are just people that like music, so I always get an unfiltered honest answer from them. They loved it. My dad was blasting it on the speakers in the living room, and then would put it on again whenever he got into the car.
What does the song personally mean to you?
Peyton: Healing reminds me to keep on going and to be nice to people. You never know what anyone else is going through. We are all healing from something.
If listeners could take one thing away from this song, what would you like it to be?
Peyton: It is just a song to say that no matter what you are going through, there will be better days. It might not be tomorrow, but it could be the day after. Just keep going.
Finally, is there a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?
Peyton: Do what you love, and don’t be afraid to tell people that you love it
