Upcoming country singer-songwriter Kylie Trout is set to release her brand new single “Extra” on October 16th & has kindly taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution about her forthcoming track, along with getting to know more about the artist herself.
Hey Kylie, thank you so much for agreeing to this interview. Can you start by telling the readers a little bit about yourself?
Kylie: Thank you so much for having me! I am a pop/country singer from Southern California. I’m currently 17 years old and I’ve been singing my whole life. Country music has been my passion for as long as I can remember!
When did you first discover your passion for music?
Kylie: I first discovered my passion for music at a very early age. I went through a lot of family issues when I was little, and music was always there as a saving grace for me. This is also what led me to songwriting. I could relate with songs and they made me feel less alone, so that’s always been my goal with music. I just want to help others the same way music has helped me.
How would you describe your musical style to someone unfamiliar with your music?
Kylie: I would describe my music style as very cross-genre between pop and country. I love the traditional country aspect of telling a story, along with the more modern sound.
You are about to release the brand new single “Extra” on October 16th. How did the idea to create the song come together?
Kylie: So excited for this song! A while ago I was in a relationship with this guy that I quickly learned was no good for me. We broke up out of nowhere and afterward, he would always go out of his way to make sure I saw everything he posted, he even got a “new girl” that looked super similar to me. He tried multiple times to get me back but I never gave him the time of day. I’m not into those “extra” kinda guys. Looking back I felt like I wasted my time with him, so I figured I would make something out of it and put it into a song!
What would you consider to be the main inspiration behind this upcoming track?
Kylie: I think the main inspiration behind this song is just to remind us ladies to never settle for less. Be with someone who pushes you to be the best version of yourself! Not someone who loves to try to make you jealous and causes drama. You deserve better than that!
If listeners could take away one thing from this song, what would you like it to be?
Kylie: I would love people to listen to this song and always remember to never settle for less! If that boy cheats on you or makes you sad, there’s always other fish in the sea.
Do you have any further releases planned, which you can tell us about?
Kylie: Yes, I have quite a few things in the works right now! I can’t give away too many details, but I am hoping to release my debut EP in 2021!
What are some of the things you enjoy outside of music?
Kylie: Outside of music I love spending time with my friends and family, & I also enjoy art! I find drawing and painting to be very stress relieving and fun.
If you could perform a duet with anyone in the world, who would you choose & why?
Kylie: I would LOVE to duet with my lifelong idol, Carrie Underwood. She’s absolutely incredible! I’d also love to collab with Morgan Wallen. Totally obsessed with everything he does!
What song do you always include on your playlist & what does it mean to you?
Kylie: I always have to include “Family Tradition” by Hank Williams Jr. in my playlists! Everyone knows the words and it’s just a classic! This is also one of my favorites to perform at shows!
If you could appear on any TV show, which one would you pick & why?
Kylie: I think my life would be complete if I could appear on “Outer Banks”! Hands down one of my absolute favorite shows!! The characters seem so down to earth in the show & in real life plus the scenery in South Carolina where they filmed is beautiful!
If you could possess any superpower, which one would you like it to be?
Kylie: If I could possess any superpower, it would 100% be to teleport. No more traffic, you could go anywhere in a matter of seconds!
What is the best piece of advice someone has given you about pursuing a career within the music industry?
Kylie: Some of the best advice I’ve been given is to build up a good team around you. The music industry is hard so you need good people who you know will always have your back. It’s so important to surround yourself with people who lift you up.
Finally, is there anything you would like to say to the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?
