Upcoming singer-songwriter Ines Perndorfer has recently released her debut EP ‘Beautiful Things’ & has kindly taken the time to speak with me about her latest release.
Hey Ines, thank you so much for this interview. Can you start by telling the readers a little bit about yourself?
Ines: Thank you for having me! Im a singer-songwriter from Austria, Europe and I just released my first EP called “Beautiful Things”.
When did you first discover your passion for music & knew that it was a career that you wanted to pursue?
Ines: Oh the passion for music has always been there for sure. Honestly I never really decided that do this now for a career, it was just always there and I just did what I love and it also took a while for me to understand that I can actually to this as a career haha, I thought like everyone sings and writes music when I was a kid.
How would you describe your musical style to someone unfamiliar with your music?
Ines: I would say there’s definitely some country pop in there but also an almost bluesy guitar sound! When it comes to the lyrics it’s very singer-songwriter I guess and I basically talk about my life so far.
You recently released your brand new EP ‘Beautiful Things’, how did the idea to create this EP come together?
Ines: Yesss 😀 Well these songs just had to get released, I wrote most of them a while ago and it felt so right to finally get them out there. We recorded everything at home in 3 months which was actually a very fun experience. The EP is basically a journey through my life really. It tells a story about a girl who is kind of lost in her negative thoughts (“Out Of My Head”) until she decides to not listen to what others say let go of any stress and worry and just go for it. (“No Borders”)
What are some of the biggest inspirations behind this EP?
Ines: Honestly my experiences so far in life. There’s a lot about mental health struggles in there for sure, and still finding the “Beautiful Things” even when you’re unable to see them at the moment. Everything changes and appreciating and being grateful for just the small things does make a big difference.
What are some of your favourite songs to feature on the EP?
Ines: Oh that kind of changes a lot 😀 I’d say “No Borders” because I find myself listening to that one the most. But I think the title song of the EP will be my all time favourite song, just because it makes me feel the most and the slide guitar on that song makes me cry every time haha.
How have your family & friends reacted to your latest release?
Ines: Oh they are jamming to it non stop. I love how supportive they are and they kinda experienced the process too a little when I was recording the songs at home so it’s even a deeper connection I feel like.
What does this EP personally mean to you?
Ines: Letting go of old patterns, closing this chapter of my life and being ready for new and bigger things. I love every single song on there, and it just feels so good to finally do something you’ve been trying to do for so long.
If listeners could take away one thing from your EP, what would you like it to be?
Ines: Oh I mean the goal of every artist is that the listeners can connect with your songs. If it just inspires and touches one person, I’ve won.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Ines: I love photography! It’s another way to express my emotions and I just love creating art.
Who is the biggest influence behind your music?
Ines: A looooot. So many artists. Probably every single artist I’ve listened to when I was growing up. But for this EP I’d say maybe John Mayer, Kelsea Ballerini, Kasey Musgraves, Danielle Bradbery, Patrick Droney and probably many more 😀
If you could duet with anyone in the world, who would you choose & why?
Ines: Anyone who knows me would yell now JOHN MAYER!! haha that WOULD be amazing obviously because he is the one who introduced me to the whole blues music world where I discovered all the legendary blues guitar player which speak directly to my heart. I think I’d love to collaborate with Post Malone though, I just think our duet song would be so interesting and he is also such a sweet person, I think we could work together well 😀 but these are big dreams lol.
What is the best piece of advice someone has offered you about pursuing a career in music?
Ines: Do.Not.Take.Anything.Personally.
Finally, is there anything you would like to say to the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?
Ines: Well, thank you so much for reading until the very end.
