Interview: Rosey Cale Releases The Brand New Single “Secrets”!

Rosey Cale is an upcoming singer-songwriter & actress, who has just released the brand new single titled “Secrets” & has kindly taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution about her latest release.

Hey Rosey, thank you so much for agreeing to this interview. Can you start by introducing yourself to the readers?

Rosey: Hi Jess, thank you for taking the time to support my music, I really appreciate the effort that goes into these interviews! My name’s Rosey Cale and I’m from Pembrokeshire in South West Wales and it’s actually my birthday this week, so I’ll most likely be 26 when you’re reading this!

When did you first discover your passion for music & knew that it was a career that you wanted to pursue?

Rosey: To be honest, I can’t remember a time when I didn’t love music. I was brought up in a household with lots of singing and my sister and I danced from a really young age, so performing was kind of in our blood. But I think I really found a love of songwriting when I was 19. From there I went to an open mic and it was people’s belief in my music from the get go that really inspired me to keep going. I keep having to remind myself that it’s a job, I just feel lucky I’m able to do it.

How would you describe your musical style to someone unfamiliar with your music?

Rosey: To any new listeners I tend to describe my music as pop with a country twist, but I’m finding so many different ways to write lately that my music is changing all the time as I get older and become more influenced by other artists.

You are about to release your brand new single “Secrets” on May 8th. How did the idea to create this song come together?

Rosey: This was one that I wrote very quickly, probably in less than 30 minutes. I know that sounds ridiculous, and people tell me all the time that you can’t write a good song in 30 minutes, but honestly I just remember lying in bed, sitting up all of a sudden and thinking ‘I need to write a song now’. The lyrics and the chords came out almost as I sang them because I knew what I wanted to say. The production side of it took much longer than most of my other songs though.

What is the main inspiration behind the song?

Rosey: I never know how to explain this one, so I don’t try to. I guess this song was written with the intention of keeping it a secret.

What does the song personally mean to you?

Rosey: I cried a hell of a lot while I wrote it. In fact, the original lyrics I wrote actually have a couple of tear marks on them. So yeah, this one means a lot!

How have your family & friends reacted to this upcoming release?

Rosey: They’ve been mega supportive and I can always count on my best friend to message me with how excited she gets for the next one. I mean if your friends aren’t your biggest supporters then who are right? If listeners could take away one message from this song, what would you like it to be? To be honest about who you are and always trust your instincts.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Rosey: I love to bake, knit and read. Outside of this pandemic I love to climb and go to the beach.

If you could perform a duet with anyone in the world, who would you choose & why?

Rosey: Oh man, what a question!! If it meant I got to write the duo with someone too then I’d have to choose Hunter Hayes. I love guy/girl duos and I just think an upbeat feel good duo with him would be incredible. His voice and talent blows me away every time I hear him.

What is the best advice someone has given you about pursuing a career in music?

Rosey: I remember going for dinner with Benny Greb a few years back and him saying to me and my partner at the table to always be true to yourself and your morals, because at least you won’t have any regrets. And it’s really stuck with me. I don’t try to do things because I want people to think it’s cool, I want to do them because it’s who I am and it matters to me.
