Interview: Alyssa Trahan Discusses Her Brand New Single “My Favourite Song”!

Country singer-songwriter Alyssa Trahan has just published the brand new single “My Favourite Song” & has taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution about her latest release.

Hey Alyssa, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Can you start by telling us a little bit about yourself?

Alyssa: Thanks for asking me! I’m a country singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and audio engineer. I grew up in a small town called East Rochester, NY and made the move to Nashville, TN in 2016! I’m a huge cat lover, tea addict, and introvert!

When did you first discover your passion for music?

Alyssa: I’ve always had a passion for music, even as a baby! I would do a little dance any time music was playing. As I got older, that turned into me writing songs, learning instruments and eventually playing out in the local music scene. I think a lot of it is genetic, my whole family is pretty musical. My dad would always play guitar around the house, so I think that rubbed off on me!

Have you always known that you wanted to pursue a career in music?

Alyssa: I always wanted to be a musician, even as a young kid, but I didn’t know it could be a career until I got a little older. As soon as I realized I could do it for a living, my mind was set!

How would you describe your musical style to someone unfamiliar with your work?

Alyssa: I would say my style is modern country and a combination of traditional country instruments with modern production styles!

You have just released your brand new single “My Favourite Song”, which sounds amazing by way. How did the idea to create this song come together?

Alyssa: Thank you! I have always thought it was amazing how music can change your mood and even attach itself to a memory, whether it’s good or bad. I’ve had it happen a few times now that a song I loved turned into something I couldn’t listen to anymore, simply because of something that happened around the time the song came out. Even though the memory and the songs aren’t related, my brain just associates them. I brought the idea into a writing session with my co-writer, Tony Lucca, and we wrote it in about an hour and a half!

What would you consider to be the main inspiration behind this latest song?

Alyssa: The main inspiration would be a fight I had with someone when a certain song was being played on the radio constantly. Just because of the timing, every time I hear the song now, I think of that fight, even though everything is good with that person now!

How would you compare the creative prosses behind this single compared to your previous releases?

Alyssa: This song was written in a fairly similar way, in a writing session with co-writers. But in terms of production, this one was a lot different. I actually produced this song entirely by myself in my studio in Nashville, TN! I played almost every instrument you hear. I went to college for music recording and have been producing my own demos and music for other artists for years, but with this song, I wanted to give it a real shot on my own!

What message would you like listeners to take away from the song?

Alyssa: I want people to be able to jam out to this song, even if they have a broken heart. And I want them to know that good things can come from negative experiences. Afterall, I got this song from a bad experience!

Now, this is the part of the interview where I like to find out more about the artist behind the music. When you are not performing, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Alyssa: I am usually in my studio working on new music, whether it’s writing or recording! But I also love working out, reading, and chilling on the couch with my cats!

What song do you always keep on your playlist & why?

Alyssa: I’m always switching up my playlists with a mix of artists and genres, I love all the different styles of writing and production and expanding my musical palette. But I pretty much always have some serious girl power going on, whether it’s Taylor Swift, Dolly Parton, Maren Morris, Kelsea Ballerini, Carly Pearce, you name it!

If you could appear on any TV show, which would it be & why?

Alyssa: I would definitely pick a reunion of The Office! Even a re-reun with a green screen haha! The Office is my favorite show of all time, my cat is named after it! (Beesly).

What was the last movie you watched & did you enjoy it?

Alyssa: The last movie I watched was “Knives Out” and I really liked it! It’s a murder mystery with tons of unexpected twists!

If you could have one super-power, what would you pick & why?

Alyssa: I would pick the power of “refilling things”. Haha let me explain! If I have an empty gas tank, refill it. Empty stomach? Refill it. Empty bank account? Fill it up! Empty house? Fill it! And so on. 🙂

What advice would you offer someone looking to pursue a career in music?

Alyssa: My #1 advice would be to find who you are and be it on purpose. Don’t do or be something you don’t want to just because you think it will attract more fans. Be authentic and real. You will be so much happier in the long run.

Finally, is there anything you would like to say to the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?

Alyssa: We’re in a pretty crazy and uncertain time with the COVID_19 crisis right now. So I want to remind everyone to take care of themselves! Drink water, eat healthy, go for a walk outside (away from people, of course) call your friends & family! We’re all in this together and we have to do the best we can until it’s safe to go out again. Nothing is more important than your health and the health of those you love!
