Hi KiKi, thank you for this interview. Could you please introduce yourself to anyone who may be unfamiliar with your music?
KiKi: I’m KiKi Holli, an indie-pop singer, songwriter, and performer based in Los Angeles. My music blends cinematic pop & indie vibes, with a touch of theatrics. I’m also the frontwoman of KiKi Holli & The Remedy, an expanded project that brings fuller, moodier, more magnetic energy to my songs. At the heart of everything I make is emotion, storytelling, and connection.
When did you first discover your passion for music?
KiKi: I think music found me before I even knew what it was. I grew up singing, acting, and performing, and music was always the thread that made everything make sense. As a kid, I’d sing along to my favorite records, imagining entire worlds around each song. I remember sitting with a babysitter as she turned the radio dial to see what I could sing along to, and I could hit most of the songs she landed on. That passion never went away; it only grew louder, until I couldn’t ignore it.
Have you always known that you wanted to pursue a career within the music industry?
KiKi: Yes, absolutely. I tried following more “practical” paths at times, but music always pulled me back. Even when I explored theater and writing, music remained the heartbeat of it all. Eventually I realized this isn’t just a passion, it’s a calling. I’m happiest creating music and sharing it with people.
How would you currently describe your musical style?
KiKi: My sound blends indie pop and cinematic storytelling. We love rich vocal harmonies, layered guitars, a bangin’ beat, and lyrics you feel in your chest. It’s ethereal yet grounded, nostalgic yet fresh, with a touch of glam, a hint of grit, and overflowing with heart.
You just released the new single WISH, the first release under your expanded artist title KiKi Holli & The Remedy. How did the idea for the song and this new creative chapter come together?
KiKi: WISH marked a shift for me. I’ve always written honestly, but with this new era, I wanted to open the door wider, taking up more space sonically, vocally, and creatively. Working with Ethan Allen, a 2x Grammy-nominated producer and co-writer, made that evolution feel effortless. The Remedy represents the emotional medicine music gives me and, hopefully, anyone who listens. It’s the energy, the healing, and the fire behind this new chapter. WISH was the perfect way to introduce that transformation. At its core, WISH is just a fun, catchy pop song you can dance to. My affinity for The Cure and Robert Smith’s pop songs that are iconic and incredibly catchy, but also have a melancholic undertone. He really inspires me…always.
Did you always plan to release WISH as a single?
KiKi: From the moment we finished the first demo, I knew this song needed its own spotlight. It felt like a doorway opening, saying “something new is happening here.” I always felt WISH was meant to lead the way into our upcoming release schedule that will culminate in my album next year. The hope is to use this momentum to engage with more listeners and more hearts.
What does this song personally mean to you?
KiKi: WISH is a love letter to resilience. It’s about holding onto possibility even when life feels uncertain or heavy. It’s that moment when you close your eyes, make a wish, and remember your own power. For me, it’s deeply personal and empowering. I think a lot of people can relate to the longing and hope it captures. And it’s just a fun song that you can listen to over and over again.
What message would you like listeners to take from this?
KiKi: I want listeners to feel uplifted and inspired. WISH is about keeping your heart open, even when life gets complicated. It’s a reminder that you’re allowed to hope, dream, and want more. Sometimes the act of wishing is the first step toward something real or simply moving on to something better.
