Nashville-based country-pop singer-songwriter Kat Velasco shares the empowering new anthem “Show Pony”, which will lead her upcoming EP, “Cowgirl Complex”, due out next year.
This latest single reflects the freedom that comes from letting go of others’ opinions and releasing anything that holds you back from becoming your true self.
Speaking about her latest single, Kat shares “‘Show Pony’ represents both my time in pageants and in the music industry,” Velasco shares. “There’s a pressure to be perfect, to always look the part, smile on cue, and never show any cracks. Writing this song was my way of breaking free — of saying no more, and finally showing up as my real self.”
The song explores the liberating journey of shedding expectations. It carries an unfiltered approach of discovering your self-worth and the freedom of finally being able to be your authentic self. Through a series of vulnerable & empowering lyrics wrapped in a country-pop anthem, it’s an incredible statement of Kat’s musical talent.
