Highly acclaimed UK country-pop singer-songwriter ELERI shares the brand new single “90s Movie“!
Inspired by a trip to Nashville and a mid-flight Hugh Grant classic, 90s Movie is a heartfelt homage to the golden age of rom-coms. Co-written with Rachel Walker Mason and Nina Sundstrom, and produced by Tim Prottey-Jones (First Time Flyers, The Wandering Hearts, Megan McKenna), the track seamlessly blends playful film references with real-life romance, creating warm, cinematic country-pop anthem.
The single is accompanied by a vibrant music video, set to premiere later this month. Directed by Will Langley of CBLOC Productions, the video sees Eleri step into iconic scenes from beloved romantic comedies, playfully reimagining the genre’s most memorable moments with her own unique twist. The result is a light hearted visual tribute that mirrors the song’s charm while celebrating the joy and nostalgia of classic rom com storytelling.
‘It’s funny where inspiration comes from. Last year I took a trip out to Tennessee and Kentucky thinking that the beautiful scenery, the smokey mountains, sprawling farmland and the open road would inspire some new music. Instead, it was the cheesy film I watched at 40,000 feet with British Airways that gave me my next single.’ Eleri shares.
‘My husband turned to me and said “Classic. They don’t make films like that anymore” – Instantly I could hear the hookline of a song and when I was back at home I got in a session with two of my favourite writers and as many film references as I could find and 90s Movie was born. Of course, then 2025 rolled around and Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy came out, so maybe rom coms are making a comeback just in time!’
