Upcoming singer-songwriter Rosie Gault has swiftly made her mark on the music scene with releases such as “I’m Losing You” and “Dim Lights”. Now, she embarks on the next step of her exciting journey with the new single “Daisy” and her upcoming debut EP “Songs From Winter”!
Even in summer, cracks of winter show through. This July and August will bring Rosie Gault’s debut EP, “Songs From Winter”, following in the footsteps of artists such as Phoebe Bridgers with a ‘waterfall release’. Each of the four tracks on this EP represents a unique feeling, so each one will get a moment to shine as a single in the lead-up to the full EP release on the 11th of August 2025.
Rosie has kindly taken the time to chat with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution and you can find the full interview below.
Hey Rosie, thank you so much for this interview. Can you introduce yourself to anyone who might be unfamiliar with your music?
Thank you for having me back! For anyone who’s not heard my music before, writing songs is like keeping a diary for me. I love sharing my work and letting other people into that world so we can all process our emotions together. My tracks are perfect for anyone who feels things very deeply!
On July 20th, you’ll release the new single “Daisy”. How did the idea for this song come together?
Daisy was the first track written from the EP. I think that song really kickstarted the project, it was my first time writing about friendships on a deeper level and it felt like an opportunity to explore all the emotions I’d been pushing down for so long. I wanted to create something that felt like the conversation I wish I could have.
The song centres around a broken friendship. What drew you to centre this within a song?
When I was visiting my hometown, I found a scrapbook an old friend of mine had made me for a birthday ages ago. I have a habit of missing people I’ve cared about forever, but that really brought everything to the forefront of my mind again. After that I sat down and wrote this song. I think romantic relationships get written about a lot more than friendships, but both have a big impact on me all the time.
What message would you like listeners to take from the song?
I’d like Daisy to be a comfort track for anyone missing an old friend, or processing the end of a friendship. We can all get through it together and remember it’s okay to still care about someone while knowing you might be better off apart.
The song is from the upcoming EP “Songs From Winter”, due for release on August 11th. How did the idea for this EP come together?
This EP came together on it’s own really. I wrote loads of songs while I was home for Christmas one year, more than ever before. At the end of it a few tracks really stood out to me and felt like they belonged together, I felt like they covered the main feelings that occupy my mind. Missing friends, sadness over over breakups, nostalgia and guilt. I put them all in a folder on my phone and labeled it ‘songs from winter’. After I showed them to my producer Sofy Bilaya the name just stuck!
What are some of the inspirations behind the songs featured on the EP?
Each song represents a different chapter in my life and a strong emotion that went with it. I think seasons changing brings those emotions to the surface, which is why I like the seasonal link too! Daisy was inspired by my scrapbook discovery, with ‘Tell Me Again’ being written on the same day as the nostalgia kept intensifying. The third track was born after a girl’s night in with my friends and a few glasses of wine, whereas the final track came from a lonely evening sat at my piano. The songs feel very human to me, I didn’t try to make them too complicated or metaphorical. They’re just authentic and venerable, which I hope can give my listeners a feeling of solace when they hear it.
What are some things listeners can anticipate hearing on the EP?
There is definitely a soundscape feeling to this project. Ocean noises, bird-song, a definite mixture of folky tracks and a bit of ambient pop! I think the Gracie Abrams and Taylor Swift influence is audible, I love combining gentle instrumentation with heavy lyrics and lots of harmonies.
Are there any songs that did not make the EP that we could see released at a later date?
Yes! There is one fully-produced track that I’ve held back for personal reasons that I’m hoping will resurface someday. There were lots of songs considered, these were the ones Sofy and I felt truly represented the project. The other tracks I wrote that winter are still safe and sound! I will re-visit them and bring them to life when it’s their time
What does this EP personally mean to you?
To me, this EP was a long confession. When I wrote the songs I didn’t imagine sharing them, it was all about processing. I’d never written songs about some of the situations or people who inspired these tracks before. It was healing, I felt almost hidden away working on it. Even as we recorded the songs, I found myself going through similar situations again, or evolutions of the same stories. I channeled all of that into singing these songs, they’re full of real feelings. I hope they can comfort someone else now.
Finally, is there a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?
Thank you so much for reading about me and my songs! I feel so grateful to be a small artist, it’s such a magical little world to be a part of. Over the last year so much has changed for me, I’ve been fortunate enough to see so many dreams come true. Don’t ever let someone tell you something you care about is impossible, I think everyone has dreams for a reason. I can’t believe I came so close to giving up on this before I even started, in another life I never got to see this happen. Live every day for yourself and never stop feeling!
