RELEASE: Laila Delves Into The Complex Nature Of Situationships With New Single “Talk”!

Following the admiration for debut EP “Heart Doesn’t Work Like That”, upcoming Toronto-based pop singer-songwriter Laila shares the new single “Talk”, which delves into the complexities of a situationship.

This song was co-written alongside Matt Snell (Dua Lipa, Future Nostalgia), & Robbie Brett, produced by Matt Snell & Robbie Brett at Genesis Sound in Toronto, mixed by Josh Bowman, & mastered by Kristian Montano with additional production by Derek G. Machin.

The song focuses around the issues coming from a situationship where emotion clashes with casual intentions to create a confusing position where one person is more invested than the other.

Speaking about the latest single, Laila shared “Talk! A classic tale: one person is deeply invested while the other insists things are casual. I wrote this song to make sense of a situationship (…cringe). I was in with another musician who lives in LA. We used to FaceTime for hours at a time each week. When I finally asked what we were, the answer I got was “talk”… not the 4 letter word I was expecting to hear.,” Laila continues. “My producers and I took inspiration from Dua Lipa & Holly Humberstone for the dark pop sonic landscape. Listen to this when you rage drive home after seeing that ‘casual’ person (after you said it was the last time).”

Laila provides a spectacular vocal display that reflects the lyrical nature of the song & echoes the catchy chorus hooks that appear throughout. This delves into Laila’s character-filled talents & highlights her natural musical nature.
