Following the release of recent singles “Enough Of Me” & “Do Better”, Rachel has unveiled a brand new anthem for everyone rediscovering themselves after leaving a relationship. This latest single explores the mix of joy & sorrow found in romance and companionship. It’s finding your worth & control after coming out the other side.
Rachel has kindly taken the time to chat with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution regarding the journey behind this latest release & what it means to share it with the world.
Hey Rachel, thank you for this interview. Can you introduce yourself to readers who might be unfamiliar with your music?
Rachel: Hey! I’m Rachel Grae and I make pop music. In my music, I talk about all types of emotions, experiences, realizations etc. I hope you love it 🙂 Thank you for having me, Fierce & Fabulous Revolution!
When did you first discover your passion for music?
Rachel: My passion for music has lived with me for as long as I can remember. I’ve grown up with a feeling that I was meant to do this with my life.
Have you always known that you wanted to pursue a career within the music industry?
Rachel: Yes. When I was younger, I had a huge passion for helping people and a huge passion for music. It took me a second to realize that music was HOW I would help people, but yes. I’ve always known that I wanted to pursue a career within the music industry, it was just a matter of how to navigate my way here.
How would you currently describe your musical style?
Rachel: With the new music I’m making, I would describe my musical style as soulful pop. Lyrically, it’s a shared journal with listeners about my life. A mix of deep, heart-wrenching songs and music you can dance to. A solid mix of the two is on the way, and I can’t wait to share!
You just released the brand new single “The Best”, which sounds amazing. How did the idea for this song come together?
Rachel: I wrote this song two years ago. It was at a point in my life where I was able to feel the moment after a heartbreak where I finally realized my own self-worth. This song is for everyone who is finding themselves after leaving a relationship. It’s easy to lose yourself after you’ve given so much of your time to another person, but “The Best” is about the feeling of rediscovering your own worth and power after coming out of the other side.
The song centres around rediscovering your worth & power after walking away & finding the other side. What does it mean to you to share this message & what would you like listeners to take from it?
Rachel: It’s easy to not see the light at the end of the tunnel when you’re so deep in heavy emotions after a big life change. Sometimes you have to try to forget what you feel so that you can remember what you deserve. You truly deserve the best for yourself! Even if the relationship didn’t end up the way you wanted it to, it may have ended the way it needed to.
What advice would you offer to someone who was starting to rediscover themselves?
Rachel: Live in the uncomfortable, spend time alone, and trust the process. Take the time to truly get to know what fills your bucket and what empties it and slowly adjust your life around that. It’s so important to surround yourself with the right things in life. It’s so difficult to know what the poison in your life is until you take a step back and truly meet yourself. Don’t wait for someone to come into your life and treat you right… you have yourself right now.
Did you always plan to release “The Best” as a single?
Rachel: When I wrote “The Best”, I immediately knew it was special and would hold its own as a single. I think this song is such a powerful self-love anthem that people need to hear, and I’m glad I can be a voice to send this message out.
How did you find the creative process behind this single compared to some of your earlier releases?
Rachel: I came into the session with the line “I’d wish you the best, but you already had it,” and my co-writer Max Margolis immediately said that we needed to run with it. This song felt so real to me while writing it. It kind of felt like the words were just falling onto the page the same way that they would when writing in a diary. It was such an amazing energy in the room and that feeling is reflected in this song.
Do you have any more releases planned for the next few months that you can currently tell us about?
Rachel: I’m not going to say too much, but I have A LOT of new music on the way for you to stay tuned for. These songs feel really, really special, and I can’t wait to share them with the world.
Finally, is there a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?
Rachel: I wish you the best! See what I did there. 🙂
