This latest release is something many people will be able to resonate with on an emotionally deep level. It centres around falling for someone who uses your feelings against you & leaves you feeling broken.
Abigail has kindly taken the time to discuss the brand new single, “People Don’t Love”, & her experience on I Can See Your Voice. You can find the full interview below.
Hey Abigail, thank you so much for this interview. Can you start by introducing yourself to people who might be unfamiliar with your music?
Abigail: Hey! My name is Abigail Virginia. I am from Alabama now living in Nashville. My music is very soulful with some pop elements. Everything I write and release has been a real experience for me. I am all about being real and authentic with my music.
When did you first discover your passion for music?
Abigail: Since I was a child. I felt like I was always called to it it’s hard to explain. I truly feel that it’s my purpose in life.
How would you currently describe your musical style?
Abigail: Soulful/Pop.
You recently wowed audiences on the US version of I Can See Your Voice. How did the idea to appear on the show come together?
Abigail: I actually originally tried out for American Idol and didn’t make it but one of the casting directors at the audition reached out and said he had another show he thought I would be great for and it was “I Can See Your Voice”.
You appeared on the show as “Sorority Sister”. Who decided on the mystery identity & what was the inspiration behind it?
Abigail: Josh my casting director I think made that decision. We were talking about all the jobs and activities I had done throughout my life me we landed on “sorority sister” because I was a zeta at the University of North Alabama for a few years in college. I actually hated being in a sorority though which is funny.
How would you describe your experience of being on the show & what advice would you have for anyone wanting to take part?
Abigail: It was not at all what I expected. A lot of it was rush- rush and wait if that makes sense. Even when I booked the part they only told me two days in advance that I was hoping on a plane. My cast for the show however was AMAZING and everyone who was a part of it; the directors, the assistants, I had such a blast with them. My advice for anyone trying out is to know that TV is TV. If you didn’t make the part it doesn’t mean you weren’t talented or did something wrong but they are booking for a certain storyline. So don’t be discouraged keep trying.
You just released your new single, “People Don’t Love”. How did the idea for this song come together?
Abigail: Honestly word for word of this song happened. I was in a relationship with someone that truly made me realize why people fall in love. I had never experienced such a deep feeling like that before. So it truly broke me when they turned out to be someone that wasn’t good. It made me feel really cold and bitter and never want to open up to someone again, hence the “you made me realize why some people don’t love” hook.
Did you always plan to release this song as a single?
Abigail: I honestly wasn’t sure. I knew as soon as me and Zachary Stein wrote it that it was special but I wasn’t sure when I would release it.
What does this song personally mean to you?
Abigail: For me, this song is therapy and helped me process my emotions about how my last relationship impacted me.
What message would you like listeners to gain from this song?
Abigail: Sounds cliche but you’re not alone. And also don’t be angry you opened up to someone. Love is a beautiful thing when it’s right. You’ll be so grateful when you find the right person for you.
Finally, is there a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?
Abigail: You are loved!!
