Rising American country singer-songwriters Kirstie Kraus & Christie Huff have joined forces on the brand-new empowering anthem, “Dab A Dolly”!
This latest feel-good female empowerment anthem takes playful inspiration from the old Daisy sour cream commercial & the saying ‘dollop of Daisy’, but they’ve cleverly flipped that & have exclaimed through the lyrics that “a little dab a dolly is good for everyone!”
There is something truly magical about Kirstie & Christie’s musical styles & seeing them together for “Dab A Doly” is no different. This song showcases their unique talents & shows they are a force to be reckoned with.
Kirstie & Christie have kindly taken the time to talk with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution regarding their latest collaboration & the inspiration behind the song. You can find the interview below.
Hey Kirstie & Christie, thank you so much for this interview. Can you start by introducing yourselves to readers who might be unfamiliar with your music?
Kirstie: Yes! My name is Kirstie I am a recording artist performer and songwriter. I am originally pm from the Midwest and reside in Nashville, TN where I make and create music. I also do a bit of hosting and enjoy taking the mic and getting to help someone else celebrate their wins by asking them questions and highlighting them.
Christie: I am originally from Arizona and now split my time between Nashville and LA! I’ve been releasing a new song about every 6-8 weeks since 2019 and love the journey of music!
When did you both discover your passion for music?
Kirstie: My passion for music started when I was two years old. I began jumping on picnic tables and at age 4 I knew all the words to most songs that were put in front of me like Barney and Kids Sing-a-long shows!
Christie: I knew I loved to sing at an early age and grew up singing musical theatre. I always loved country music and started writing songs in my senior year of high school.
How would each of you describe your current musical styles?
Kirstie: My current music style is modern country with a bluesy rock flare and catchy melodic top line.
Christie: I describe my music style as country/pop with some soul in my voice!
You have joined forces to collaborate on the single “Dab A Dolly”, which sounds amazing. How did the idea for this song come together?
Kirstie: The idea was a spur-of-the-moment Christie noticing that what I would say on stage could be made into a song! Every time I covered a Dolly Parton song afterwards I started saying, “there’s a dab a Dolly for ya” and she turned to me and said let’s write that song!
Christie: We got the idea while on tour together. We were singing lots of covers and original songs and we just kept saying Dan a dolly before singing Dolly Parton songs so we decided to write that song while on tour!
How did the original idea for you both to collaborate come together?
Kirstie: I think it just happened naturally because we weren’t set on making it happen but once we had the right song in our hands it was a no-brainer to put it out together!
Christie: By saying that saying “Dab a Dolly” and then the idea grew from there because Dolly Parton is an icon and we really wanted to create something fun for women!
How did you find working alongside each other on this song & could we see more collaborations between you in the future?
Kirstie: Good question! I truly think there is no limits when you enjoy working and performing with someone. I admire Christie a lot for always putting out new music! I can’t say that it is out of the question to do a collab in the future!
Christie: It’s been a blast so far! I love that we both support each other and absolutely! Would love to do more songs together in the future!
What does the song mean to each of you?
Kirstie: Dab a Dolly is a female empowerment anthem that means if you are feeling down just add some Dolly songs in your life or study her a bit and you will be lifted up to a more positive space. Dolly truly wants the best for everyone and her essence stands for just that! Therefore we are huge fans of Dolly and want the same for everyone!
Christie: To me, this song is all about staying positive in life and really holding on to things that make you smile on a hard day.
What message would you like listeners to take from this song?
Kirstie: I would love for them to get hope and positivity from this song and realize that they are not alone, we all feel down sometimes, and there is music out there and an icon out you can lean on to feel better!
Christie: I’d love for this song to bring a smile to whoever listens to this song! Just all around feel good!
Finally, is there a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolutions?
Kirstie: I truly am very proud of this song & am so appreciative of all the love around this release that is already happening. I feel like this song will always be very special to me! It is also my first female duet EVER!
Christie: Female friendships are so important! The best part of this collaboration has been working together with Kirstie to really make this song a success!
We’ve both released songs with other name artists and that is wonderful, but there is definitely something special about females supporting females! Especially in country music. Hold on to your friendships and support one another!
