Upcoming Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter & creator Hunter Blair Ambrose is swiftly catching the attention of listeners across the globe through powerfully distinctive vocals, & fashion-forward styling that showcases the visionary artist within.

Not long ago, Hunter unveiled the brand new synth-pop single “Next To Me”, which was written alongside longtime collaborator & producer Jason Strong in the fall of 2022. This latest release centres around a confession of love & the conscious decision to give your entire heart & soul to someone.

Hunter has kindly taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution regarding the release of the new single & you can find the full interview below.

Hey Hunter, thank you so much for this interview. Can you start by introducing yourself to readers who might be unfamiliar with your music?

Hunter: I am a pop singer/songwriter and artist currently based in Los Angeles but with roots in New York. I have many different musical influences but have always been firmly rooted in pop music. I have been especially inspired by artists like Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, Michael Jackson, Christina Aguilera and many more. I have always had a passion for anything and everything to do with the performing arts and music. I’ve been releasing music since 2019 and I can’t wait to see what 2024 has in store for me.

When did you first discover your passion for music?

Hunter: I have been singing quite literally since I can remember. By the time I was 4 or 5, I was memorizing and singing all of my favourite pop songs I would hear on the radio and just singing constantly around my friends, in front of my parents, at school, and anywhere I could. I was a really shy kid so it was quite ironic that I was so outspoken with my passion for singing. I began formal music lessons and training at 6 and kept studying through grade school, high school and all the way through college, enrolling in Berklee College of Music.

Have you always known that you wanted to pursue a career within the music industry?

Hunter: Honestly, yes. I think I always had an inkling even as a little girl that being a pop singer was the ultimate goal. It was like this dream I never could get out of my head. I started training as a child formally in music but by the time I was in high school, I think I knew this was going to be my lifelong passion and something I’d pursue professionally.

How would you currently describe your musical style?

Hunter: I would describe it as a combination of synthpop, electropop and R&B. Again, I have so many musical influences and artists that have inspired me along the way. I like to think that I’ve created my own specific sound by mixing all of these styles together and making something unique.

We see the release of your new single, “Next To Me” soon. How did the idea for the song come together?

Hunter: I had been dealing with a lot of strong emotions following my decision to move to Los Angeles from New York. I was really vulnerable and feeling kind of all over the place emotionally. There was a lot I had riding on that move and a lot of factors that ultimately led me to make the decision. I felt like I was starting my life over in a sense and I was starting to entertain the idea of allowing love back into my life following a long healing process from a former relationship of mine. All of those emotions together led me to write the song.

You co-wrote the song alongside your longtime collaborator and producer, Jason Strong. What are some of the things that inspire you when you collaborate?

Hunter: Jason and I have worked together and gotten to know each other over a certain number of years and therefore I think there’s a level of comfortability with each other that only comes from really getting to know a person. In a songwriting setting, that is huge. Allowing the artist to be comfortable being vulnerable is really important and I think that’s one of the keys to us being successful collaborators.

What does this song personally mean to you?

Hunter: This song in particular represents a further sonic shift from my previous material and a shift in my own life through its storytelling and lyrics. I think the song allowed me to look inside and reflect on the places I wanted to go in my own life to move on from a place of heartbreak and sorrow, which were big themes on my previous record. The song is a shift in a more positive, light, hopeful direction in every way possible and also has a lighter, brighter, more danceable sound to go with it.

If listeners could take anything away from this song, what would you like it to be?

Hunter: I think I would like people to take away a key message of: Even if you’ve been deeply hurt or heartbroken in life, there can always be a second chance in life to allow you to move on and be happy and open yourself up again. Life moves on and you never know when that moment things turn around will be.

What are some of the things readers & listeners can anticipate seeing from you during 2024?

Hunter: In addition to the release of “Next to Me”, there will definitely be a music video to go with it. After that, I will be performing around Los Angeles to promote my new music. There will be more singles coming out throughout 2024 and hopefully a full-length project towards the end of the year.

What advice would you offer to someone who is looking to pursue a career within the music industry?

Hunter: I would say that having self-discipline and an open mind to keep learning about your craft every day are two of the biggest factors that will set you up for success. This industry changes quicker than ever before it seems and keeping up with that, the trends, the marketing techniques, and meeting fellow creatives and collaborators even just in your local scene are integral to making moves and levelling yourself up. I spent so much of my early life studying my idols, reading books on the industry, going to so many live shows, putting myself out there, and training that I think all of those things culminated in me being well-rounded and educated upon entering this industry.

Finally, is there a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?

Hunter: Thank you all for taking the time to read this and listen to my music. I hope that my music resonates with you and that the public is ready for my distinct approach to this genre and my unique style. I am so excited for what’s to come in my career with this new music and to share it with the world.
