Singer-songwriter Ronnie Watts makes a return to the music scene with the brand-new single “Wasn’t It Fun”!
This latest release centres around the journey of moving on from someone you truly cared for & discovering the person in their genuine form.
Speaking about the release, Ronnie shared “I wrote “Wasn’t It Fun” back in 2021 on Zoom with my friends Emily Fullerton Hutchins and Stephen Conley. Before we started writing the song, I was explaining to them how I hated how boys that I’m no longer dating think I’m sitting around crying about them– because actually, I’m doing way better without them. Something about a guy saying, “I know how much I hurt you,” feels kind of belittling. If anything, a guy “hurting” me is probably the biggest favor he could do for me. So that’s how “Wasn’t It Fun” started! It’s about when you finally take the rose colored glasses off and you can see a person as they truly are. I hope people listen to this song and feel empowered. I hope it inspires them to move on, or simply take pride in their independence.“
“It’s been nearly two years since I have released a song, so it feels so exciting to have another song out in the world. “Wasn’t It Fun” means so much to me because it has been a long time coming. Dreux produced the song this year (two years after it was written). He created such a cool sound that has unique elements while simultaneously feeling so familiar. We have dedicated so much time and hard work into evolving my sound. As I get older, I’m much less afraid of pushing boundaries and getting out of my comfort zone when it comes to my music. “Wasn’t It Fun” is only the tip of the iceberg. You can expect much more music from me coming very soon.
