Australian-based singer-songwriter Karen Harding explores a new side of her ever-evolving musical style with the latest single, “Devil In The Mirror”.
This latest single presents a catchy indie-pop track that centres around the constant struggles & pressures some people place on us to fit a certain mould.
Discussing the new single, Karen said “Like so many people, I have spent so much of my life being afraid to put myself in front of a camera or for people to see the whole me. My ‘devil’ would tell me stories that I didn’t measure up or that I didn’t look how I was supposed to look. I wanted to share this song because I believe that we’re in a pandemic.. that people everywhere are striving for impossible, unreachable versions of themselves. I want them to know that they ARE good enough just by being themselves. They finally have the chance to break the mirror and conquer their devil.”
The song harbours a mid-tempo instrumental that carries 80s influences & driving drum rhythms to create a sonic soundscape that reflects the metaphoric lyrical nature of this single.
Karen delivers an illustrative performance that highlights the tender qualities within her emotionally exuding vocals, which creates an added layer to this intensely drawing piece.
This song showcases the creative musical versatility that this gifted artist possesses & displays the distinguishing elements within her richly resounding vocals.
