Not long ago, Emerging songstress & multi-instrumentalist Lorraine Nash found immense success through the release of her debut EP ‘Wildflower’ that swiftly saw her becoming one of the most played female artists on Irish radio.
Now, this gifted artist looks set to once again make her mark within the music scene with the release of her latest single, “Sing With Her”, which was inspired by the #WhyNotHer movement and its revelations of gender inequality within the music industry.
Lorraine has kindly taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution regarding her latest single & you can find out what she said below.
Hey Lorraine, thank you for this interview. Can you start by telling the readers a little bit about yourself?
Lorraine: I am a 22 year old singer-songwriter from Kerry. My music is a mixture of country, folk, trad and everything in between!
You recently released the brand new single “Sing With Her”. How did the idea for this song come together?
Lorraine: The idea for this song came about after I had seen the reports on gender disparity in radio. This really hit home for me and I felt that writing a song was the best way to say what I wanted on the matter.
Did you always plan to release “Sing With Her” as a single?
Lorraine: After I had finished writing and recording the song, it only felt right to release it as soon as possible as it was a conversation people were still having.
How would you compare the creative process behind this single to previous releases?
Lorraine: This song was definitely more DIY. I did most of the recording from home and recorded fiddles on the track myself, which is something I hadn’t done before.
What does this song personally mean to you?
Lorraine: This song has a wider meaning than most of my other songs. I generally have written about my own personal experiences but I feel as though this track has a more universal message
If listeners could take something away from this song, what would you like it to be?
Lorraine: Definitely to consider giving female artists more support. There are so many wonderful female artists that are not getting the radio play they deserve but you can show your support in other ways like buying a CD on Bandcamp.
Do you have any further musical releases planned that you can currently tell us about?
Lorraine: I do have an upcoming single planned for the near future but that’s all I’ll say for now!
Finally, do you have a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?
Lorraine: Sing With Her is available on all streaming platforms, and the music video can be found on YouTube, so go check it out if you haven’t already! You can stay up to date with any gigs or releases I might have coming up on my social media.
