Interview/Review: Josey Releases The Brand New Single “Look It Up”!

Upcoming singer-songwriter Josey has caught the attention of music fans & critics alike with her ear-catching soulful vocals & vibrantly fresh soul, pop & R&B style.

Following on from the success of previous singles “TMI” & “Energy”, Josey is about to deliver another attention-grabbing release with the new track “Look It Up”.

Josey has kindly taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution about her latest single & you can check out what she said below.

Hey Josey, thank you for this interview. You have just released the brand new single “Look It Up”. How did the idea for this song come together?

Josey: The idea of the song came from my real life personal experience. A former friend who is also another artist in town was trying to bring me down after we had a fallen out… when they were in the wrong to begin with lol.

Did you always plan to release “Look It Up” as a single?

Josey: Thats a good question, when I originally wrote it with hera lynn it was kinda of just to vent and let out how I felt with the situation. Then I started playing it live and people loved it! A lot of people started asking is this song out, or will it be released soon? Then my friends were like yea you gotta cut this! haha so I did!

What does the song mean to you?

Josey: To me this song means, not letting people control your native or story, they can say or do whatever they want but that doesn’t change the truth, or your character. Its a fun light hearted way of reminding people your not gonna take their shit and you are better off!

If listeners could take one thing away from this song, what would you like it to be?

Josey: To live your life and keep pushing forward no matter what other people say. How people treat you is a reflection of them not you! Focus on yourself and what matters. In the end the proof is always in the pudding (:

What does is it personally mean to you to be releasing this song during black history month?

Josey: It means a lot this time last year I only had one single out! So to be releasing my 3rd single during black history month is special. Black artists are overlooked a lot and I think for the first time in a while people are actively paying attention and seeking out something new and different and more diverse artists. I’m ready to be found and hope this message reaches as many people as it can!

We have to keep this same energy beyond one month. Keep listening to black people and black artists, keep sharing their music, adding them to your playlist, booking them for gigs, writing articles on them.

What advice would you offer to someone looking to pursue a career within the music industry?

Josey: I would say consistency is key. You have to be patient and never give up!! The people who are successful, it’s not just based on talent, its because they never gave up, they took risks and made sacrifices. Also its all about the company you keep, make sure to surround yourself with people who are ambitious and motivated and hardworking. Before you know it you will all start to rise together. It is much easier to be focused and keep pushing when everyone around you is positive and are like minded people who are on the grind as well.

This latest release features a catchy uptempo musical instrumental that reflects the energy behind the lyrical aspect of this piece, which help’s listeners to feel a natural sense of engagement.

The song presents Josey with a chance to deliver a performance that showcases her charismatic artistry & highlights the unique qualities within her sublime vocals.
