Upcoming musician Alva Ella has caught the attention of global music lovers through her magnetizing musical style & passion-filled vocals, which has swiftly accumulated over 100,000 streams on Spotify alone.
Recently, Alva released the brand new single “Rush” & kindly spoke to Fierce & Fabulous Revolution about the release, along with getting to know more about the artist herself. Check out what she said below.
Hey Alva, thank you so much for this interview, can you start by telling the readers a little bit about yourself?
Alva: No problem! Hi, I’m Alva, I’m a 20 year-old Swedish-speaking Finn from Ostrobothnia, Finland. I’ve always been interested in music and since year 2015 I‘ve been writing my own songs. I’m a very happy, positive and emotional human being. And I love dogs, especially my bulldog, Doris.
When did you first discover your passion for music?
Alva: Well, I wrote my first song when I was like 6 years old, but that song was pretty bad, haha. I played guitar when I was 6 and then I started playing piano. My sister, who is 8 years older than me, took singing lessons in our hometown so when I was 11 I became very interested in singing. Hannah Montana was a big idol for me, I learned all her songs and dances by heart and watched her live performances, it was sooo fun.
When is the first time that you can recall performing in front of a live audience?
Alva: Oh, I wish I could remember my first performance… but I think I was 11, when I started taking singing lessons.
How would you describe your musical style to someone unfamiliar with your music?
Alva: I write pop songs that have a very scandinavian sound, I get a lot of inspiration from Swedish pop. The older I get, the lyrics become more and more important to me. I want to learn how to write really, really good lyrics, but you have to practice a lot. I love songs that are deep and emotional but at the same time you can dance to them.
You recently released the brand new single “Rush”, which sounds amazing by the way. How did the idea for this song come together?

Alva: Thank you very much. I started by writing the topline, just because I think it’s one of the most important things in a pop song. The lyrics was pretty unfinished so I asked my sister, Linn, for help when everything else was kinda ready. I knew what story I wanted in the song, so we changed the words a bit. We worked a couple of months with the production and in the end ‘Rush’ turned out the way I wanted it to sound. It’s a very emotional song… but you can dance to it at the same time. 😉
How would you compare the creative process behind this song to your previous releases?
Alva: ‘Rush’ took a while to finish, some songs are just harder to work with. We were trying so many different things with this song to be honest, some topline parts were pretty hard to figure out. ‘Pretty’ was also hard to finish. I wrote my last two singles in exactly the same way, started with the topline, then worked on the lyrics, made a backing track, changed the lyrics and also some topline parts… haha you name it, sometimes it’s just a long process. I’m a huge perfectionist when it comes to how I want my songs to sound. I am also more careful with what I want to release as an artist today, than I was 3 years ago.
What does this song personally mean to you?
Alva: It’s about a relationship that you and your partner have really fought for. But when the other person’s not with you, you realise how good you’re feeling. You’re pushing away the fear you get when you realise you’re actually doing better on your own.
What are some of the things you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Alva: I love to write songs, the best feeling is when you’ve written a catchy topline together with great lyrics and the song is on repeat in your head all day long. I also love listening to music, workout and eat good food.
If you could perform a duet with anyone in the world, who would you choose & why?
Alva: Wow, this is a hard question. But I think I will choose Fletcher or Cheat Codes. I love them both and their music. Fletcher’s has a beautiful voice and a supercool sound that I like. There’s so much bass in her songs and that’s very nice. Cheat Codes have such positive and motivating songs that get me in a good mood. I love to workout to their songs, they give me so much energy. Cheat Codes are so talented.
What song do you always keep on your playlist & why?
Alva: It never stays the same. But right now it’s ‘We’re Good’ by Dua Lipa. It’s a dope song. And also ‘Do It All Over’ by Cheat Codes and Marc E. Bassy.
What is one item you could not live without?
Alva: Hmmm, it’s my phone, but that’s pretty obvious though… But ok. I’ll say coffee. My coffee break is the best thing that happens to me in a day, haha. And I like it black, very important. 🙂
If you could possess one superpower, what would you choose & why?
Alva: Ok. When I was younger I wanted to be able to read other people’s thoughts, but not anymore… I think it would be pretty awful and lower my self-esteem, haha. But well… I would love to be invisible. How nice?! Then I could spy on my friends and family.
Finally, is there a message that you would like to share with the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?
Alva: Take care and spread love, there will be better times. Thank you for listening to my music. ❤ Means a lot.
