Interview: Sofie Discusses The Release Of Her Brand New Single “Players”!

Upcoming UK R&B artist Sofie has released the brand new single “Players” & has kindly taken the time to speak with Fierce & Fabulous Revolution about her latest single.

Hey Sofie, thank you so much for agreeing to this interview. Can you start by introducing yourself to our readers?

Sofie: Hi everyone! My name is Sofie and I’m an R&B artist, from Portsmouth.

When did you first discover your passion for music?

Sofie: I think I first discovered my passion for music when I was about 7. I always used to take my Mum’s CDs and play them in my room and then would not stop singing from that moment on.

How would you describe your musical style to someone who is not familiar with your music?

Sofie: My musical style is RnB with a little bit of pop thrown in I guess. I take a lot of my influences from Mahalia, Mae Muller, Jorja Smith and I guess even a bit of Ariana Grande’s more recent stuff.

You have just released your brand new single “Players”. How did the idea to create this song come together?

Sofie: Well it was from a past experience with a fuck boy (you can delete swearing if you don’t want it haha) and I just realised I don’t need that in my life !

How would you describe the creative process behind this single compared to your previous releases?

Sofie: In regards to my first song, that song kind of just poured out of me as it was about a really shit ex that I had and was very easy to write but with this one I sat with my producer and we worked on it together and I just got the hook/melody of the chorus straight away and then I went away and it just came out that way.

What does this song personally mean to you?

Sofie: This song to me means that you can be strong enough to walk away before you actually get hurt!

When you are not performing, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Sofie: I’d like to say I have this great workout routine etc but in my free time I usually am watching netflix, walking my dog or doing some kind of face mask or similar.

What song do you always keep on your playlist & why?

Sofie: A song I always keep in my playlist, although there are so many, would be Hide Out by Mahalia because it’s the sassiest thing ever.

If you could perform a duet with anyone on the planet, who would it be & why?

Sofie: It would probably be Jorja Smith…

What was the last album you listened to?

Sofie: Very recently I listened to Dua Lipa’s new album Future Nostalgia.

What was the last TV show you binge-watched & did you enjoy it?

Sofie: I’m still watching it but Fleabag, literally so funny think we can all relate to the main character.

Which movie soundtrack would you consider to be your all-time favourite?

Sofie: It’s obviously so cliche but either one of the Mamma Mia films soundtracks because feels like summer every time I listen to them and they bring back so many memories.

Who are some of your favourite musicians to listen to & why?

Sofie: I have quite a varied music taste like as long as I like something then I’ll listen to it but some of my favourites are Joy Crookes because I feel like every song she writes has a story to it and her songs are just so good can’t explain it really ! I love Oasis as well because it’s like my families favourite band and we are such a musical family too.

What advice would you share with someone who is looking to pursue a career in music?

Sofie: My advice would be it’s really hard so you’ve got to not take everything personally, take every single opportunity you can even if you’re scared and to also network and get talking to as many people as possible because you never know who you’ll meet or who can help you or even you can help!

Finally, is there a message you would like to say to the readers of Fierce & Fabulous Revolution?

Sofie: Thank you for taking the time to read this interview and make sure you follow Fierce and Fabulous Revolution! And if you like my track then find me on socials and any streaming services! x
